SPEAKER_08And it's Mario, aka MB Royal. And it's your boy, VIC93.
SPEAKER_01And it's your boy, Salmos. AKA. Oh, what? Oh, oh, oh, oh, hold on, hold on. I I gotta think of my own.
SPEAKER_02I gotta think of my Oh shit, Salmos.
SPEAKER_01It's your man. It's your it's your guy.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Salmos.
SPEAKER_09It's the guy. We are back. It's back, guys. I know we have been on a um little sabbatical. Uh, but hey, life is happening right now, man. Life has happened.
SPEAKER_08Y'all can blame me for this one. Sorry, fellas. No, bro.
SPEAKER_11You were down. You were actually hilariously enough for being a new family man. You were so down to record on Mother's Day. Don't think I forgot about that, big.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah. He was definitely down to record on Mother's Day. Don't think I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_11You were so down.
SPEAKER_01He wanted to get up.
SPEAKER_11Not too loud for that one. He was like, no, it's for it's for my boys. I was like, you know what? This man is a new father, and he was willing to grind for that.
SPEAKER_01I gotta, honey, I gotta. The new sheep detective. I mean, he's the gotta be a good thing.
SPEAKER_09I mean, he's the only father in the group. What's it doing?
SPEAKER_01Dude, sheep detectives, not gonna lie, took itself way more serious than I thought it was. And it was good. Like it starts it dove deep into like talking about the morality of like life and trying to forget pain and how actually remembrance because they're sheep and they can't remember anything. Yeah. But it's like, or they choose to forget. So anytime somebody a sheep dies or whatever, they're like, oh, choose to forget him, and then they forget. But then there's one sheep that can't forget.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_01And so he remembers how many pe how many sheep have died. Oh no. And then one day one of the sheep comes up to him and is like, How many sheep have I forgotten? And then the other sheep is like, more than I can count. I was like, what is this? What is this movie, bro?
SPEAKER_08I heard it was pretty good. Dang.
SPEAKER_01It was it was good. It it was fun. Fun looking.
SPEAKER_09Okay. Fun looking guys, welcome back to Yampasta. We are back.
SPEAKER_00Here we go. We're back.
SPEAKER_09Oh God. If you know the last couple of episodes, that is Salmos.
SPEAKER_11And he is the last one episode. This is Salmos's second episode with us.
SPEAKER_01This is my third.
SPEAKER_11No, it's third.
SPEAKER_01It is a guest appearance, and then the next one. Oh, you're right.
SPEAKER_11And then I was like, nah, you're recording here.
SPEAKER_03I thought he was about to say nah.
SPEAKER_11He ain't coming third. Okay. But we're happy to now have him.
SPEAKER_09Because he is the fourth component of Yampasta. And then when you look and listen to it, his name is already on there.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. I like to think Salmos lives in a movie theater.
SPEAKER_00Yes, sir. Yes.
SPEAKER_11Yes. I think. The AMC Stubs is well. You are the it's like you're the one man AMC headquarters. Like, how many times has he been? We're losing money. He's been the four times a week. We might have to reel this program back.
SPEAKER_09Yo, the last two weeks I've been the AMC maybe seven times. So I'm I'm getting up there. You know, still hey, listen, shout out to AMC. If you have not got it, go get it. It's like $20 a month. You can watch four movies. And this is not an ad, by the way. We are not getting paid by AMC, but AMC.
SPEAKER_02But AMC, listen.
SPEAKER_09Listen, if you want, you know, a white dude and three uh well, just three levels.
SPEAKER_11But what we trying to say is AMC, we offer diversity. Yes, right.
SPEAKER_06See?
SPEAKER_09We offer D E I. D E I. D E I. But not for real. AMC. Shout out to AMC subs, man.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. But yeah, good deal.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, man. What's that email, man?
SPEAKER_11You know, we are starting with games. We will get to movies. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09We want to get to this email first, though. Oh, yeah, you're right. You're right. Yampastapod at gmail.com. Once again, for the supporters and the haters out there, it is yampastapod at gmail.com. Lock in. Lock in.
SPEAKER_11Yep. Email us all your comments, questions, and concerns that you have used apply to gmail.com.
SPEAKER_08I have ideas. I have so much wisdom that I need to share.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. Salmos, he he was having some ideas today. Maybe he should email the pod.
SPEAKER_01Dude, maybe I should. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Or you can just tell us after the podcast. I mean, true.
SPEAKER_00Hold on now.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, well.
SPEAKER_00Kick that Salmos guy off the pod.
SPEAKER_11Salmos. God. From Salmos Stuck. Yeah, man. Yeah. Well, y'all, movie time? Game time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_11I'm so sorry, guys. It's 10 o'clock. You're right. It's game time. It's game time. I'm gonna edit myself.
SPEAKER_06Don't tease me with this movie?
SPEAKER_11Don't tease me with early movie time. Yeah, let's do game time, Mario.
SPEAKER_06It's movie time. We put on a movie. Movie time. There's no podcast. We just watch a movie. People just hear Ratatouille playing. They're popcorn.
SPEAKER_11Dude, this is such a good movie. Um guys, this is so so I did add this. This is just a little recap because we haven't been on the air in like a month, over a month now. So I said, so these games came out, and really, this is just for like two games because I want to shout it out. But um 007 released by the by the Hitman Creators I. Oh, yeah. Legacy of the Dark Knight. Or yeah, I think that's that's what it is. Um, yeah, and they've both gotten great reviews. They've both done very good sales, and uh, it's really cool because um I I see on social media a lot of the other games that I've followed throughout the years, especially this year, have been like coming out with with different celebrations and artworks and and sort of giving these games their flowers. And there's a there's a lot of love for these games. And um I I can't say the same I, you know, obviously Legacy of the Dark Knight is uh is a Lego game, but I will say um I know for James Bond, especially, that is not a large studio. And they made a James Bond game and it is selling very, very well right now. So kudos to them. And I've I'm currently playing the game. It is amazing if you love James Bond, if you love the Hitman style games. Um, even if you don't, I think they really expanded on the formula, and dude, it is so good. It's a good time to be a fan.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I need to get it. Uh it looks fine. It looks sick. It is good. It is good.
SPEAKER_11They do a lot. It's like it's like if Hitman added a James Bond flair and really expand on it with like the action, and uh but then it adds like a little watchdogs element to it. So it's it's like leaning, tech leaning, you know, like James Bond flair. Yeah, so like Hitman is like I would say, well, it does have a lot of like go assassinate. This game is more like you can low-key like talk your way through things a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Like, you know, classy.
SPEAKER_11More classy, yeah, more classy. You can't just kill people. They have to be. They have to be pulling a gun on you for you to get the license to kill. Whoa, you know, like, or else you have to beat them up. You can like Hitman has a lot of good, uh, good like ways to like sneak around to, but this game, you can also like you can pick a lot, and uh Hitman you can do it too, but this game, like, you can go in and beat everyone up, or you can like distract them by turning a hose on or by shooting a fire extinguisher, and that'll like explode. Or like there's a bunch of it's like just expanding on the universe with James Bond. And of course, he's not like a sociopath like fucking hitman, he's James Bond. So he's still got in those cutscenes, he's still got that charm. He's that ladies' man, he goes around and and he's super e like he's got an ego on him, but he's young, and it's like super young James Bond, and he even has the scar, which I don't think has ever been done in film, but that was in the books. So they gave him like they made him book accurate. I don't know. It's bro, it is a good book game, I'm telling you. Very, very fun stuff. So definitely check out James Bond, check out Lego Batman. Um, obviously check out uh Mouse PI for hire. That's been out for a couple, like a month now. That game's really good. Yep, that game's really fun. Um, there's a lot of good games, dude. I feel like more and more as technology has kind of been getting better for like the home use, that we're starting to see these these games from smaller studios be really, really good and movies. We're gonna talk about the movies are getting really, really good from yes, we are. Yes, we are so man, it's just a it's it's getting to be a very good time to be a consumer, and that's all thanks to the to the little guys, I think.
SPEAKER_09Running back physical.
SPEAKER_11Bring back physical, yes, of course.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like physical discs and whatnot.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, man. I I picked up Final Fantasy X the other day. That's a f that's on physical. That thing is sweet for the soundtrack alone, dude. That thing is sweet. Um, but yeah, man, physical discs, bro. For sure.
SPEAKER_01Speak of physical discs. I just not to knock us off trail a little bit. Go ahead, I bought the the the trilogy of Indiana Jones on BHS, bro.
SPEAKER_11Dang, bro. I bought that trilogy on DVD like a year ago.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_04Holy Now we just had to find a DCR.
SPEAKER_11Dude, I'm so mad. My little TV in my room, it has a player, but it's broken. I know. I know. I'm so sad.
SPEAKER_01That's how I want to watch it on like a tube TV.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I might need to stop by like a garage sale.
SPEAKER_11No, yeah, yeah. You can definitely find Facebook Marketplace is huge for that, by the way.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh. I even think of that.
SPEAKER_11I find so many. I just bought an oscillator from or an oscilloscope from there that literally just shows like sine waves and stuff or whatever, like sound waves. Yeah, yeah. But it looks like it came, it looks like it was like oh, I'll get it. It's right here. It's like it looks like it came out of like an alien movie. Hold on.
SPEAKER_01Dude. Put like a robot body on it, and it's like the computer from Spongebob. Spongy. Yo, that is so sick.
unknownIt came out of alien.
SPEAKER_01I thought it was for the viewers. It's a bluish box.
SPEAKER_09That is crazy.
SPEAKER_01Bluish box with white face, a little screen with a bunch of buttons. And it looks like it came out of Alien Romulus. If Alien Romulus was like cartoonishly fun colored.
SPEAKER_09Hopefully, Riverside, we can make a clip out of that so we can they can see what the the hell is going on.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, bro. Physical stud.
SPEAKER_08I like that they to get us back though to 007. I wasn't I was never like a really huge uh what's it called? Like sneaking up.
SPEAKER_11Oh, stealth fan.
SPEAKER_08Stealth fan, yeah. I I mean I did love I did fall in love with it with Assassin's Creed a little bit, and then uh the the Arkham trilogy. I I liked the style of it like that, but I would I was not a huge fan of the of stealth games, but um I did see where on James Bond you can kind of like pick your poison on when to be stealthy and when not to be stealthy. I thought that was very cool that they, you know, gave give players power to kind of play it how they want to.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, I've never felt like there there it's obviously he is like stealthy and is sneaky, but I've never felt like they're like laying it on too thick in this game. Because like sometimes I'll sometimes I'll fuck up and I'll be like, oh shit. And and it's really fun because I I'm fairly good at beating up the guys, and I'll it'll just become Batman Arkham at that point. Like I've literally just like beating the crap out of so many dudes.
SPEAKER_01English Batman.
SPEAKER_11English Batman, yeah, yeah. No, and I'm just like, and and there's some it's it's cool because there's not just there's not just brutes or there's not just like grunts, there are like also brutes too that are like take a lot more like a different style of yeah, yeah, just just slightly, but it's like it's it's very well done. But I never felt like it was like, oh, you only have to do stealth. Because you can also just like you can poison people, you can hack some stuff, you can I don't know. And also, low-key, you don't have to be that stealthy. Like, even you know what I mean? Like, like there's some moments that I almost got confused because I'm like, How the hell am I gonna sneak past this guy? But literally, he'd he'll be like looking the other direction, and he doesn't walk by. Yeah, literally, like there's so many moments I'm like, oh, we played like okay, okay. But which is like okay, whatever. But um, but yeah, it never felt like I just had to be stealthy. It was it's very well done so far, and I think it's gonna end out really cool. And it's like, yeah, it's it's a very it kind of takes a little bit of that skyfall approach of like is there even gonna be a program? What's going on? Now you're you're kind of rogue, you know, a little bit, like you're kind of on the run a little bit somehow. And I think that's cool because it's not just like cookie cutter, like, here is your mission, here's your mission, here like it does present that, but it it the storyline is very much like, bro, this whole thing could fall apart, bro. Like, and it's it's up to you, you know what I mean? Like, and that's kind of cool. I think that's cool. It's like the whole machine of it all is like, James, you gotta like it's it's you, like it's not just like we've given you unlimited resources to do. I mean, kind of it is, but like, I don't know, you just have to play it, bro. It is a very good story, very good origin so far.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, like I don't mind stealth in games, it's just I like that it's it's a little more free. And like you said, the gadgets, bro, they got real unique with all the gadgets and different ways you can use it. And that to me makes me not even think about the stealth shit. Like, if I got knockout gas that I can knock somebody uh put somebody to sleep with, like that's technically stuff, but it's like I'm actively doing shit, you know.
SPEAKER_11I mean, yeah, they they do. I think I would love it if they expanded a little more, but the stuff they give you makes it possible to kind of like to walk through it, which is chill, which is it's nice. Um, but yeah, man, those are those are the games that that came out that I think were like the super big releases. But um I I saw the Xbox one and we'll talk about that. But Vic, I saw a little bit from State of Play from PlayStation. What did you think about it?
SPEAKER_08Um yeah, I was a little disappointed because it was so much, I felt like Sony hyped it up a lot. Like it was getting a lot of traction on online. You know, they were talking about I heard that they had theaters, like they rented out theaters for people to sit in there and watch it and everything like that. So I'm like, Yeah, like they did it, they did it big, bro. And it was supposed to be like this big, you know, reveals and stuff like that. And I was a little underwhelmed, bro. Like, we only got two first party games coming and another year with nothing from Naughty Dog. I was very disappointed. Oh, right.
SPEAKER_11Well, we didn't wait, Naughty Dog didn't even show their like space game. Nothing. That's crazy. Space game. They have this one space game with the with Jade for Mortal Kombat. Yeah, yeah, she's the main girl. Uh, but they have like a space game that's kind of like going for like a solo, more serious Guardians of the Galaxy kind of vibe.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's kind of cool.
SPEAKER_11It looks kind of cool, but like if they're not saying anything, I don't know what's going on.
SPEAKER_08It's not really Yeah, I know they announced it, but like, and that's the only thing that's been that's coming out from them since the P, you know, this gen. They haven't dropped anything.
SPEAKER_11I mean, Sony's Sony's probably playing it super safe right now in terms of like stockholder stuff, maybe because what what Bungie's like losing hella money and everyone's hating on him or something, right?
SPEAKER_08I thought Bungie was gonna come out and like, oh, uh uh whatchall it part three. Oh, Destiny?
SPEAKER_01Destiny, yeah, because everybody was you think they'd have a Destiny Part 3?
SPEAKER_11Well, they just can't they just like they just stopped, they were like, yo, this is the end of Destiny 2. Yeah. That's why everyone's like, well, they got Marathon, but everyone's like, okay, whatever. But they announced another game, though. Apparently, Marathon's actually really fun, just the micro transactions I think are whack.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's microtransactions for a game that you have to purchase.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, that's insane.
SPEAKER_01I thought I thought Marathon was gonna be free, and I was so gonna be gonna be free. And then I saw that it was like 60 bucks or something.
SPEAKER_11I love the art style and everything about it too. It's just it's very like it it it sells you the free-to-play shit with the colors and the and the like the dollar color schemes. And it's like, oh, but it's also 40 bucks. It's like, well, there's a free-to-play game that's because like like there's I don't think there's a storyline, bro. And the original Marathon Marathons were older games, they had stories. Like, I don't know, I don't know, bro.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and they they did drop that on the at the state of play, the marathon, um, some little gameplay. But uh the good news, I did like Wolverine. Wolverine looked really good.
SPEAKER_11That looked amazing, that looked amazing.
SPEAKER_08And Insomniac, uh, Insomniac, they they put a little twist on it that I like. So the X-Men are not uh it's not a thing in this game. They're not even they don't exist. So it's mutants exist, but they're like very far in between. There's not a lot of mutants just running around, and the ones that are known, they're all being hunted by these cyber, uh, these cyber humans, kind of like mini say that again?
SPEAKER_09Like the movie Logan.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah, similar to Logan. Um uh what's the what's those the big robots? Sentinels. Sentinels, yeah. Those they're they're like mini Sentinels.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um but they're humans, I think, or whatever. Whatever they're doing. No, have you seen um No They're like the uh not Days of Yeah, Days of Future Pass. Yeah, uh they're specifically made to kill mutants by adding to their weaknesses.
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah, they use the um they use the um the blood from Mystique. Uh Mystique and uh yeah to change into and adapt to everyone's power. Some a lot of those sentinels, they can't like so like if they so like Days in the Future Past, right? When they killed Storm, right? They couldn't use Storm's abilities because Storm's abilities were tied to her, and it's kind of like Matt, you know what I'm saying? But certain abilities they could use.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_09Like uh Colossus and all of that, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it looks good though. They they showed some gameplay. Um gameplay looks it looks brutal. You see a lot of gore, a lot of blood. I didn't see a lot of dismemberment. That's what I was I was like trying to go back to the OG, the uh Wolverine Origins.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, the game was better than the movie. Is that what you're saying?
SPEAKER_08Hell yeah, way better. But uh, yeah, does that look good? They announced uh Tomb Raiders coming. I saw that. That looked cool.
SPEAKER_11It's uh it's a complete like ground-up remake of the first one.
SPEAKER_08They announced New God of War.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah, you you or wait, why is why is that getting random? Lady of War. Yeah. What Lady of War, you say? Bro, wait, what's so what's going on with it? Isn't it just like a lost legacy style? What is it gonna be like a $40 like side game or is it like a full thing?
SPEAKER_08I think it's uh I think from what they they're how they're blowing it up, it's supposed to be its own, like it's gonna be a full yeah, full game game.
SPEAKER_11I love the Caram Page action. Wait, why are people are people shitting on it?
SPEAKER_08It's like how is it God of War without Kratos, bro? It's like it's it it looks like a cool game. The gameplay looks cool, it looks like it's a cool concept. I just think uh that's not what fans wanted.
SPEAKER_11Well, how is it gonna war how is the God of War series going right now? Like, did it s did Kratos' story end or something? Like, I didn't play those new ones.
SPEAKER_00I yeah, I I have I have Ragnarok because it came up on my PlayStation. I have not played it yet.
SPEAKER_08Like did Vegas. Did you even uh check the mic because it sounds it kind of sounds like you're far away. Test test. Say it again.
unknownHello.
SPEAKER_08Nah, it sounds like it's like the mic might have got cut off or something.
SPEAKER_11Hmm. Let's check.
SPEAKER_08Let's check. Technical difficulties? Let me see. That's why I I I was like, am I talking over you? I didn't hear you say no, that that has nothing to do with it.
SPEAKER_11You're fine. Mic check, mic check. Mic check, mic check, mic check. Make sure Salmos is good. I can also turn up Salmos a bunch.
SPEAKER_08But why you doing that? I'll I'll give you a quick little rundown on the God of War. So I beat Ragnarok and the the 2018 God of Award, the the remake. Uh basically it ended with um the Norse mythology saga is done. Like they pretty much ran through that. It's over.
SPEAKER_11With Ragnarok?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, with Ragnarok. The Norse they they kind of tied up all the loose ends with the Norse mythology. It ended with Atreus leaving with uh his girlfriend.
SPEAKER_11Okay.
SPEAKER_08And so people were speculating like maybe the next game was gonna be his story, you know, because you already could play with him in Ragnarok. Um, or you know, rumors was, you know, Kratos might go to a different uh, you know, world or universe with the guys, like maybe Egyptian or uh you know, who knows somewhere. But yeah, they they ended up going with telling uh her story, his wife's story, which is like I said, it's not I don't think it's a terrible thing. I think it's gonna probably do well just because you know, people that are fans are probably gonna still buy it and play it. It's just yeah, a lot of people gave it a lot of slack because it was like, oh, they taking away Kratos and calling it God of War and shit like that. So yeah, it was interesting, but yeah, State of Play, it was cool. It's some stuff, but uh I know Xbox, I think a lot of Xbox's announcement went way better. I think a lot of games was announced that people were excited about for sure.
SPEAKER_11I think um here, hold on. I'm gonna I'm gonna fix almost the thing. Hold on. Maybe it can maybe I'm going to work. Do your thing, play it. Um say something. Say say something. Hello.
SPEAKER_00Oh, here we go. There we go.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Am I good?
SPEAKER_11Uh unplug and replug. Yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_00This is interesting.
SPEAKER_11This is an interesting setup we got here.
SPEAKER_08Um, but yeah, no, um, I uh Oh, that uh Stuntman, that looked crazy. That look that looked like that might be that might be sick. They they dropped that. Did you see that, Mario?
SPEAKER_11No, what is that like a remake of the Stuntman game or is it different?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's a remake. Um so basically it's uh partnered with Universal. They showed like uh Fast and the Furious, then uh uh you know uh his Don's car. Right. They showed uh Back to the Futures car. It was like different cars of different uh movies and like Universal projects. And it's basically he's you know doing the stunts and shit like that. It look it looked like very interesting. I was like, okay, that looks cool.
SPEAKER_11It's like a different game. It's not Stunt Man Ignition. This is like a different series or a different take on the series, probably.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, let me you remember that old game, right? Mm-hmm. I never played it, but yeah, I did know about it. Okay. Let me put it in. That's cool. Stunt Man Hollywood, yeah. Stuntman Hollywood. There's no official release date. That's actually pretty cool.
SPEAKER_11I feel like that might be the same. That's gotta be the same uh thing. Let's see. I wonder who it's made by. Stunt Man Stunt Man Hollywood. This looks like the same um Stunt Man ignition. I'm just I would love to.
SPEAKER_08Fascinating Fears, the Back to the Future, Night Rider, Miami Vice, Death Race. Dang, it didn't tell me the studio.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, I think it is an entry of of the same Stunman universe.
SPEAKER_08It looked amazing um from what they shown.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. Yeah, that's super cool.
SPEAKER_08Drifting and everything.
SPEAKER_11But did you see uh I don't know if it was at Xbox or just Summer Games Fest in general, but it was that car game made by like the some Forza Horizon devs that was called like like Clutch, I think it was. You see that? It was pretty cool. That was it looking like Need for Speedy. There was a lot of cool games that were announced that Summer Game Fest um and Xbox stuff, but uh we'll talk about it. But yeah, man, Sony stayed to play. Okay, God of War. I'm very interested to see the length of this kind of game, what how many eggs they're putting in the basket. Or I feel like maybe they're hyping it up to be a full game and they're just like like, oh, not actually, but they need the the clout and then they're gonna release like a God of War 3, but I don't know. I don't know much about that series.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, that's what some people were speculating it was like gonna be like a Miles Morales type of thing.
SPEAKER_11But I was thinking that they love doing that. That's why I'm like curious because I'm like, they did Miles Morales, they did Uncharted uh the side game. You know what I mean? There's an Uncharted like four sequel, but it's a $40 like side game called Lost Legacy. And I I need to play it still, but like it's not with Nathan Drake, and that's what I'm thinking, and it was forty dollars, I think. So that's why I'm thinking, like, maybe this God of War is like being hyped up, but when you actually get it, it's like, oh, this is like a 15 to 20 hour game max, which I guess a lot of them are, but like let's say like a smaller story, and then boom, then we got God of War, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like I'm not gonna the transition from out of Kratos to his wife or to a new character, even I don't feel like it's too again, this is coming from somebody who hasn't played almost any of the games.
SPEAKER_09Hey, Samos, you gotta hold it close. Yeah, uh yeah, you gotta eat the mic. Repeat, repeat. Repeat, shall I repeat? There you go.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I feel like this is coming from somebody who doesn't play who hasn't played much of the God of War games, but is still a fan of the series because I watch other people play and I listen to lore videos, all that, whatever. I feel like how far can we push Kratos along this God of War trail? There's been so many games, and with each game, he looks older. Sure. And so it's like, especially by Ragnarok, he's old, but he's been through it, and it's kind of a nice ending, a nice closure. Because it's like if there would be another God of War game, I'd feel I don't know, it feels it feels like it's been I don't know. You don't play God of War, bro.
SPEAKER_08You don't you don't play God of War, bro? No, the Kratos ain't going nowhere, bro.
SPEAKER_01I'll play Ryan Rock and I'll come back and I'll be like, There needs to be more.
SPEAKER_11I'll tell you this, I'll tell you this much. This is this is my from an outsider's perspective who loves the gaming industry but also knows kind of what it what it's working with. So everyone's like, oh well, you know, why would you do more God of War like this? Or why would you go with the wife or something? Sony just they're saying God of War, God of War because they're trying to get their their brand recognition. But Sony's got like 20 years of dusty br we always talk about it, dusty brands they never use. So they're just trying to like work with the the staples they have and try to like I'm not gonna say milk because they're good they're they are good games, but in a way they still are kind of milking this stuff when it's like you know what I mean? Like, why why aren't we, you know, they're not putting any money into like I don't know, there's like no Jack and Daxter nothing, no Sly Cooper nothing. I mean, shit, man. Find a way to make uh Days Gone Too cheap. I don't know. Like they're they're not doing like they have so many IPs, and I know Xbox in the past has been like they're running their IPs into the ground, kind of, but like the Gears of War reveal looked really good, so it's like if you can do it well, of course, and they have done that with God of War, but like they have so much they could go back on that they're just not doing it. They're just like, oh, God of War, that's what we have. Horizon. Bring them a kill zone, please.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, they they got a lot of stuff they need to they need to do, and it's like when we see these games getting rebuilt and remat uh completely remade, it's like yo, it's a market for that, you know.
SPEAKER_11So there is, but those always make me sad because it's like a lot of those times they're remade and it's the only one game in the whole series. So it's like, oh, I want to repla I want to play the remake. Is the second one remade yet? No? Yeah, never? Alright, so this one just looks 20 years older now, and I'll never get a remake of the second one. Just like Dead Space. It's like, oh, you play you'll play the greatest looking Dead Space of all time. Well, the second one's from 20 years ago. It's like, oh okay, I'd rather just play them all how they look 20 years ago then.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, you think they should do it like how uh Santa Monica's doing God of War, like remake the whole trilogy?
SPEAKER_11No, not necessarily. Like I I think those game no, because because Santa Monica like rebooted it.
SPEAKER_08I'm talking like they're remaking the OG trilogy. Oh, wait, they really are. What are you doing? They announced that before this.
SPEAKER_11That's not that that's uh those are remasters though, aren't they? They're not full ground up.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, they are remasters, yeah.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, because they're not gonna fully re-ground. I think I think Sony needs to going back to it, I think Sony needs to give their old uh IPs the God of War Ragnarok treatment. I think they need to go back to Sly Cooper. I know it's like a cutesy game, but like completely build the graphics up, still make it fun, but like like bring it into the modern age a little bit more, better controls, like different stealth mechanics, but still make it for like you know, more kid-like. Do Jack and Daxter. You can do whatever you want with Jack and Daxter, but make Jack and Daxter. Jack and Daxter would be fire. Give me, I don't even care at this point. Give me Parapa Durappa. Give me, give me, give me him. I don't care. Just bring back your old things. Like, because as so many of these people are like, no, I'm not gonna do that. I mean, Sega is doing it with the Crazy Taxi. I don't know how it's gonna go, but they're still doing it. I love that game, too. Yeah, Crazy Taxi was still doing it.
unknownParents played that game.
SPEAKER_11It's a good game.
SPEAKER_08Simpson's version was hard too. It's real hard. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll never get another one of those. Hit and run. Anyways. Uh, some other games that I wanted to mention before you go to Xbox, bro. Um Marvel Token, Fighting Souls. So y'all saw that? Heck no, I'm about to look that up. Oh, bro, it's fire.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, is that not?
SPEAKER_08It looks fire. Uh it's uh some fighting game. Oh, yo, yeah, it looks dude, it looks crazy. Yeah. August 6th is the release date. They got uh they just announced uh with the on the state of play some new characters that's not new characters, but the characters that's gonna be playable. They uh the Knights of Doom faction roster, so that's like Magneto, Carnage, Green Goblin, Doctor Doom, of course. Um and all of them look sick.
SPEAKER_11Tag Team Fighter, bro.
SPEAKER_08That's crazy. Yeah, it's like uh it's like an anime style version of Marvel, which a lot of people was like, yeah, it looks sick.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, the Invincible game looks cool.
SPEAKER_08This looks so the Invincible, uh, that's out. I need to I want to try uh catch that because it was only like 40 bucks or something like that.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, Invincible versus that looks fun. This game looks awesome. I love the colors. That's super cool.
SPEAKER_00I'm not really into fighting games like that, but it does look awesome.
SPEAKER_08And um Silent Hill Townfall. I know that was already announced before the state of play, but they showed some like some extra little uh cutscenes and gameplay or whatnot. Looks real creepy. It's a new character, new take on the Silent Hill uh franchise. Yeah uh looks interesting, might be catching that. Uh a lot of people was uh didn't like the Dune Awakening uh trailer that they announced.
SPEAKER_11Oh, I mean that's been a that's been a game, right? It was on PC. It's a I guess it's uh it's a PC survival game. Apparently it's a pretty hard survival game, too. It looks amazing.
SPEAKER_08My bad. Yeah, it's a console release. That's why they did it. Yeah, okay. That's weird when they they do that. It's PC.
SPEAKER_11I kinda want to get it, but I know I'm gonna be terrible at it, so I'll probably not get it for a long time.
SPEAKER_08But yeah, looks cool. And uh yeah, that's most of the ones that I saw that I was like looks cool. Obviously with some more stuff. Oh, Rayman Legends. They're remaking that.
SPEAKER_11I saw that. Wait, they're what Raymond Legends? They're remaking it. What? Like re it's like a remaster with remake. It's kind of a remake, right?
SPEAKER_08It's it's completely built from the ground up.
SPEAKER_11Um no, it's Raymond Legends remake.
SPEAKER_01Dude, what?
SPEAKER_11Yep.
SPEAKER_01Interesting. Oh, remake, not remastered.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, it's a remake. Yeah, yeah, it's a remake. There's cause there's some like different levels, I think, and stuff.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Dude, that might be fun. I remember playing that game all the time as a kid.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I like Raymond's the Raymond games too. Sick. I think that's it for the state of play. Now let's get to the good stuff. Uh the Xbox Showcase. Xbox showcase looked good. I didn't even I didn't get to watch it all the way because I forgot it was. I saw clips of it.
SPEAKER_11I did uh I did a recap with Salmos here. Um it does look very good. It looks very promising. Now I will say looks crazy. I think it came at a good time, but I also think there's a lot of things right now going on with Xbox that is it I feel like in the genesis of a company's sort of apology tour is all the consumer-friendly decisions. Does that make sense? Like after the Xbox One released and all the debacle of that console, and they lost the console war to PS4, that's when like the console came out. There was a bunch of deals, Game Pass was really good at the time, like after a while, like well, Game Pass came later. But you you get what I'm saying. Like, there was a lot of like goodwill that they were trying to buy back. And I feel like especially now they're trying to do that. I'm not complaining about it. I just wonder how long it's gonna last. But as of now, within the first 100 days of the game CEO, Asha Sharma, she is doing all of the right things, which obviously she still works for a multi-trillion dollar corporation.
SPEAKER_09I was gonna ask how we still feel about her. Um I mean we I love her now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11I love her right now, but but the thing is, like, I'm I'm not gonna judge someone's tenure on the first a hundred days. I'm gonna judge it when it's over. So, like, you know what I mean? Based on what she's done so far, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Do like the direction that it seems like the direction that they're headed towards, for sure. Very optimistic.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, no, for sure. Very optimistic, I think, because it has to be. I think Xbox had no brand to its name three months ago. So I think now they're like crap. So Asha Sharma literally was like, okay, we're not Microsoft gaming anymore. That sounds boring. We're gonna go back to Xbox. Sick. It doesn't sound corporate.
SPEAKER_09Even if it is I mean, let's be honest, the whole reason Microsoft like Xbox was his own thing. We know Xbox, like we when we saw Xbox, we didn't think about Microsoft. We didn't because it was his own brand. Yeah, it was cool. And when Micro, listen, it it's something like, yes, you can be owned by Microsoft, you can be owned by all these big corporations, right? But you have to be your own thing, and I think that's where, and we all know where Microsoft messed messed up with Xbox. They tried to, oh, well, we'll just call it Microsoft Gaming, or we'll just do no, no, Xbox is its own brand. That's why, honestly, a lot of the like Microsoft stores, you know, do y'all remember those Microsoft stores that I do the one that we had in Green Hills, like they kind of like they didn't have a significant presence because it should have been more about the gaming than anything else.
SPEAKER_08So yeah, yeah, that's one thing, yeah. Sony did does good because they like they got so many facets of the business, but at PlayStation, they always kept it separate from everything else.
SPEAKER_11To be fair, PlayStation is a lot, I think PlayStation is. I mean, Sony's a smaller company. PlayStation is a way fatter chunk of Sony than Xbox is of Microsoft. So, like, like Microsoft is like a gargantuan beast, comparatively speaking. I mean, Xbox is awesome. I just I don't know how much, you know, how much uh slice of the Microsoft operating system.
SPEAKER_09Well, for a minute, I mean, Xbox, I mean, Xbox was really leading, like kind of keeping the Microsoft name kind of like affluent, you know, beyond their cloud services and stuff like that. When, you know, I mean, they're in terms of brand recognition. I get what you're saying with Sony and PlayStation. I get it.
SPEAKER_11The problem is Xbox doesn't need brand, they don't feel like they need brand recognition because they shove themselves into operating systems of every PC that ever fucking leaves a building. You know what I mean? Yeah. So it's like they don't need it, but they I think I'm glad it's in a place because I think they're gonna want it. Also, also, of course, Asha Sharma, and and rightfully so, is like coming out and doing all these right things because I'm sure she wanted to prove everyone wrong because everyone thought the head of AI was gonna suck. Yeah. You know, it was it was like it was it was like there. And it's like I'm glad, and uh for sure, if it gets Xbox back on track, I don't care, but uh, but I think whatever, all these decisions right now as it stands right now, is incredible. Um, and uh yeah, so we got some really good um exclusives for the Xbox showcase, like and which is even crazier because okay, so like Asha Sharmer's bringing back exclusives, which is someone just said they were like, Okay, so Gears of War, the new Gears of War is an exclusive. That was a decision that was made like so recently, like it wasn't gonna be that. It was gonna stick with the multi, it was gonna stick with the PS5, it was gonna stick with the PC, but now it's like no Xbox. Clockwork Revolution, that's another game coming out next year. Check it out. Xbox and Australia's like Xbox. And someone on um Reddit had I'll get to the Xbox showcase more more so in a sec, but someone on Reddit had an incredible um point to where they were like exclusives is dumb, but until everyone plays ball, exclusives should stay. Like Xbox deserves to have exclusives, it's Sony is not gonna play nice. You know what I mean? You know what I mean? It's like, okay, well, the Console Wars exclusives are d uh dumb. We should all be playing the same games. It's like that's fine, I agree. But you know, whenever there was like Nintendo gets to play with Xbox players, Nintendo gets to play with PlayStation players, Xbox wants to play with Nintendo, awesome. Now, Xbox wants to play with PlayStation, PlayStation says no. Yeah. So it's like until that happens, I think it's unrealistic for the topics.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, so until that happens. I don't see that ever happening.
SPEAKER_11Exactly. And it's like, let's do the exclusives. Why not? So, and it builds the brand recognition, which is good. So uh I watched a recap with Salmos on the Xbox Showcase. E Day looked really, really good. I and and this is someone I've only beaten the first years of war, but I'm so excited for this game because now this is technically the first years of war. It's a prequel. This is gonna be so cool. They're in their yeah, it's a prequel. This is before it all kind of went down, which is which is awesome. We get to see it. Yeah, man. Um, like immersion day or whatever it is. Um, so it'll be super cool to see how that like all that all transpired. Um, and then we got um I mean we we got a little bit more view of Fable, which is super good. It comes out early next year because I don't think they want to fight Grand Theft Auto. Um, that'll be good. Um Clockwork Revolution. That's like a industrial revolution fictional like Bioshock looking game. I think that look good.
SPEAKER_08Like it looked fun.
SPEAKER_11So good. I want to play that. Um they the uh that Xbox 25th anniversary green translucent console that Salmos hates, but I love. I like that look.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I like it. I like the look. I just wish they didn't have the Xbox 25 on that shit. They take that off.
SPEAKER_11Hey, bro, they just if they brought it back, you know it would sell like hotcakes. Don't even give me that. You know it would sell like hotcakes. Don't even give me.
SPEAKER_09Whatever, bro. I I guess if you don't put that mic up to your lips.
SPEAKER_00I I what I wish, what would it convenient Xbox like completely see-through like glass, like a PC.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, we can't hear you, Samus. But one of the one of the one of the special editions of the first Xbox ever was see-through green. So they're gonna the brand recognition, bro. The brand recognition. There is a crystal one that was that was Mario.
SPEAKER_09What's your what's your address? Because literally I'm coming down there with me and Samus are gonna fight.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_01What you don't like clear?
SPEAKER_11Yeah. Amen.
SPEAKER_01I mean, you do like the clear. You like the clear, huh? No, I want the mic, I want I want the mic up to lift. This Sunday. Is it is it too far away for you? Oh, my bad, my bad. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11But yeah, man, um it It was a really cool showcase, a lot of good brand recognition coming back. I love what Xbox is doing. I hope they keep it up. But you know, with with so many heads of whatever and so many companies, it's always like one one wrong move or one bad earnings call, and who fucking knows what's happening with the you know what I mean? So it's like I will enjoy the wins we have so far. I hope it gets back on track enough to have a great console launch for the next Xbox to have good enough games to carry us through the next decade, you know, to set up some good studios, not some closures, to have Game Pass back in a good price range. And then after that, whatever. You know, I can only hope.
SPEAKER_08That uh Magicians looked fucking crazy. I was like, when I saw that, I was like, bro, I would love that game. Playing like as a magician fighting and shit. That looked like a lot of things.
SPEAKER_02What was the name of that game, Vic?
SPEAKER_08Uh Magicians. What's the let's see? I don't know the full name. I can't see it. Why is that shit so small? Oh, there you go. I can zoom in. Magician's the Devil's Deal. Whoa. Yeah, it looks spooky. Crazy. State of Decay 3 look pretty cool. Might be checking that out.
SPEAKER_11Oh, yeah, yeah. State of Decay 3. That's been a long time coming back.
SPEAKER_08Spyro's coming back.
SPEAKER_11Is it is that like a well, they already had a re remix. So is that a new game?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I think it's a new game.
SPEAKER_11That's crazy. That's awesome. That's what I'm talking about, bro.
SPEAKER_08Also, I forgot to mention this one from uh PlayStation, the Lost Wild. Did y'all hear about that? That new dinosaur game? Everybody thought it was Jurassic Park when it first came on, but then it was like the Lost Wild. We're like, what the fuck is this? Cool. It's uh it's kind of like uh no, you play as a as the the people you're running away and shit. Just cinematics, right? Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah, no gameplay. They ain't show gameplay, but it looked interesting. People, dinosaur fans, I know it's dinosaur fans out there. You'll be eaten with that one. Yo, that was a crazy video games next at the end of this fall and next year.
SPEAKER_11I mean, we already eating pretty good with some of the releases that came out, but I mean, next month is gonna be Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake. Yeah, yeah. And then, well, we know what's coming out this year.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, in the fall. The fall is gonna be nuts. Black Friday. I'm really gonna be spending all my money.
SPEAKER_11I'm really excited for Godzilla remake. Oh, yeah, Godzilla. I'm actually not even sarcastic about that. I'm so oh, we'll talk about that, but I'm actually am excited for that game.
SPEAKER_08Um but yeah. Yeah, my boy bought the the PS4 Godzilla. He bought it like right before it just went up. Because right now I think I saw it going for like 200 and some shit. The game? The game, bro. That game was terrible. But everybody wants it. I don't know why. It's it's fucking like it's highly sought after.
SPEAKER_11It's the 2014 one. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_08Wait, was it 2014?
SPEAKER_11Yeah. PS4? Yeah, because it would have been around the same time the Godzilla movie came out.
SPEAKER_08Yep, yep, yep. Um, he bought that. He bought that before it went up. I think he said he spent like a hundred on it or like a little under a hundred. Yeah. But this one, the the remake, we'll talk about that.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. Well, um, yeah, PlayStation State to Play, Xbox Showcase, Summer Game Fest. I know I didn't talk too much about Summer Game Fest, actually, but I would definitely recommend to all of our listeners who love gaming, check out all of those announcements. I know, unfortunately, Rest in Peace E3. This is where this all of these things at once would probably be announced, but everyone has their own showcase nowadays. So do go check out everything there. Um, but yeah. Um moving on, a very cool announcement. Which uh would this actually was, I think, at Summer Games Fest, though, right? The the Paramount announcement, Vic.
SPEAKER_08Uh yeah, yeah. Uh Last Ronin is in development at the Platinum Games. Um they're getting serious about video games Paramount. They announced their video game division. So just let your imagination think about that. Like all the IP that they have, how many great games we could get.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Uh I'm excited for that. This one though looks like this story, the concept of this, I feel like it's gonna be fire. I want them to make a movie about it, too.
SPEAKER_11This game was dead and buried, and they're like bringing it back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because I remember me and my friends crying about it when we heard that they were like, We're canceling it, yeah. We're not doing it because we don't want to give you what you want.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, and then they're coming with this, so like that's a that's once again, that's a quick way to get a lot of good grace is coming out with a banger that everyone's gonna love.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, can't can't never get enough ninja turtles, bro.
SPEAKER_11Like, dude, for sure, dude. That Shredder's Revenge, like they're on a roll.
SPEAKER_08Mayhem in Manhattan was that a few years ago?
SPEAKER_11Was that the one after Shredder's Revenge? Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah, I think so. Was that it was a sequel? Um, yeah, but they're good. Um let's see. But the next one, um Witcher 3? Yes, that was crazy announcement. So I know they're work they're actively working on Witcher 4, but there is a Witcher 3 DLC coming out, which is I actually love when Yeah, I love when games do this. It came out like 11 years ago. So like the fact they're making DLC is fucking sick. I think more more games need to make DLC like 10 years later, I think.
SPEAKER_01But what what would the DLC be for console-wise?
SPEAKER_11Uh new consoles only. New consoles only. They did say that so that you're not gonna play it on the original hardware that you possibly bought it on unless you only bought it on the new gen, but it kind of is cool because it like means they're not like you know, sandwiched into making the old console work.
SPEAKER_03Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11You know. Um, which I I get where you're coming from. That is I that is, you know. Maybe there's hope for how it's kind of lame if it's that way, but it's like I it's been 10 years since like no, it's been 13 years since the original console was released. So I I understand.
SPEAKER_08Um, but maybe there's hope for Spider-Man 2 to get some DLC. Vic, come on now. Just stop. Just stop. You know, we it was 10 years. We got we got 13 years, bro.
SPEAKER_11I will say this. I will say this, and I don't think it's gonna, but I will be so mad if Wolverine sucks and we lost out on Spider-Man 2 DLC for nothing. I might even damn blame the story of Spider-Man 2 being not that good on Wolverine being also simultaneously made.
SPEAKER_01Uh at least I like Spider-Man 2 more than Miles Morales.
SPEAKER_11I know, but I did not. I thought Miles Morales was better. I think Spider-Man 1, I think Spider-Man 1 was incredible. I agree. One of the best Spider-Man stories of any game.
SPEAKER_01I agree. Probably better than um Homecoming. The game story. Yeah, I would say so.
SPEAKER_08I would say so.
SPEAKER_11Like easily, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Oh, whoa, way better to me. Yeah, yeah, way better.
SPEAKER_11It was just so good. Way better. Um, and then um I don't like the Iron Man Peter Parker. And then and then the Miles Morales I thought was pretty solid. And then Spider-Man 2 was like that, the Spider-Man 3, the movie problem. It's like, here's everything.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I feel like it balanced out because there was two Spider-Man. Maybe not. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00And I felt like Miles Morales, the story was too predictable. The dialogue was so crazy.
SPEAKER_11I wanted to wear a Miles Morales original. That's why I'm wearing Adidas shoes that you can buy right now. It's like Miles Morales original. Hey, that's fucking crazy, Miles. Wasn't there a whole montage of you building your own fucking suit in the game I bought in in 2020? Also, I like how he's like, it's a Miles Morales original. I wanted something new. It's like, hey, that's super cool. But maybe for like a secret identity, you didn't have the top of your hair showing. Bruh.
unknownBruh.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm not gonna lie, that suit is real stupid. That suit is literally done. But I feel like the villains of Spider-Man 2, because like I feel like the main difference is one, if it's suffering from Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 issue, Spider-Man 3 is a movie, Spider-Man 2 is a game. And like in a game, the main character you play is most of the time overpowered. That's why I feel like adding more.
SPEAKER_11I thought it was fucking underpowered in Spider-Man 2, but go on. Because they took away a lot of the gadgets. It was one villain the entire time.
SPEAKER_01I knew who it was wasn't a surprise. But then in Spider-Man 1, it was oh, the villain is Mr. Negative. And then it was like, Oh, never mind, it's you know, or or Vulture, and then at the very end, it's like actually the Sinister Six. And then it was like, Oh, Doc Ock was actually the bad guy all along, or like playing straight from the box.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, but you knew there was always a like a I get what you're saying, but you knew I think that uh the pacing was really good and the way they fit people in there was really because they weren't introduced, it was like these are already villains that he's battled in the past.
SPEAKER_08Besides Mr. Negative.
SPEAKER_11Kraven, which I thought was really cool, but it was another one of those things where it's like, hey, the villains are fighting again, honey. All the villains are fighting each other, kind of thing. It's like, okay. I mean, I guess. I I don't know. It was just a little convoluted for what I wanted. I also want Spider-Man 3 to just be Peter Parker.
SPEAKER_08And I hated the side missions on Spider-Man 2, honestly. I feel like the side missions were kind of like water dead.
SPEAKER_11Brother, they took out Howard immediately. First mission in Spider-Man 2. Yep. I was like, what? They took out Howard immediately.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna have to replay it. Like I'm I'm thinking back and I'm like, Brother. And my I'm not gonna lie to you. My at least in my opinion, Miles in that game is such an unlikable cookie cutter, playing, no personality character.
SPEAKER_11Bro, if I could if I could mod the traversal of Spider-Man 2 into Spider-Man 1, I would never play Spider-Man 2 again.
unknownWhat do you mean?
SPEAKER_11Because the you have the like the glider glider.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you like the glider.
SPEAKER_11I like the glider a lot. Oh, I just works well. Because they don't they don't they don't do it to where you like because a lot of games when they give you something like that, like you can bypass the main mechanic of like swinging, but not in New York City. Because with the glider, you'll hit a building if you try to turn. You have to swing still. So if I could just do that in Spider-Man 1. Also, I refuse to buy the remake. I'm keeping the same voice, the same facial actor. I'd never bought I've never bought the remake, and I never will.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Getting a little off topic, but I still think I know you were talking about Spider-Man. The story, uh, I still think 2000 Spider-Man story was the best story of all time. Oh, like the movies? No, the video game, the PS1 uh uh video game. Oh Spider-Man 2000. 2000, yeah. The one with uh Carnage when Carnage uh merged with Doc Ock.
SPEAKER_11That shit was I need to play that one. I need to play that one. I need to play that game.
SPEAKER_08You couldn't walk on the ground, but I love that shit. Like spot I'm Spider-Man. Why the fuck am I walking on the ground?
SPEAKER_11Yeah, yeah. I remember I played the I think I Vic, I think it was this one. I played like the demo smaller version of that like PC game. It was like a PC version that was kind of like it, but I played the Kellogg's like demo and it was fun as shit. Like I would still play that game. It was so fun on PC, bro. But anyways, um gotta find it. But yeah, man, I hope Wolverine's good. Um Sony State of Play, check it out. Um, and The Witcher 3 does have DLC. The Witcher 3 13 years later does have DLC. But uh moving on though, I thought I just thought I'd put this in because I do think it's funny, but I also want to shout it out. Boys, there is no game, or you thought there was no game that was brave enough to go head-to-head same day release as Grand Theft Odyssey. Who has the balls? Who has the balls to go heads up with GTA 6? Well, I'll tell you what. Is being remade and they said fuck GTA 6, and they're releasing on the same day.
SPEAKER_09So let me tell you like that's so that's so asinine.
SPEAKER_11Like, I'm buying Godzilla.
SPEAKER_09Like, I mean, yes, GTA world, but it's like no one else is gonna be about fucking Godzilla, bro.
SPEAKER_08Mario's gonna be in that long ass line wrapped around a store with like, hey bro, I'm here for that Godzilla, bro.
SPEAKER_11I should definitely I'll wear a shirt. I'll be like, I'll be dressed in the mess, though. Damn, the game's super popular, I guess. No, bro, but honestly, deadass, you know what's hilarious?
SPEAKER_08It does look good though.
SPEAKER_11You know what's hilarious? If they just move that game up one week, I think it'll be successful. Yeah, literally, deadass if they move the game up one week, people can beat it in a week and it'll be fine. The game is fun. You can literally like uh I think it is it might have co-op, but those old monster games are so good. But just please, Godzilla, I want you to survive, please. It'll probably be one of the greatest games of all time, literally. I'm not even kidding you.
unknownI've heard insane things.
SPEAKER_11Well, because Rockstar takes so much time. I mean, it's been so long. It'll it'll just be it'll be one of the greatest games of all time if you like to fuck around. And I do, so we're gonna vibe. You know, the first thing I'm doing is just driving a four-door sedan onto Miami Beach.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. I'm probably I'm probably the first thing I'm gonna do is probably be as normal and a citizen as possible.
SPEAKER_11Oh really? But then then one person one person's gonna run a stop sign and hit you, and then you're gonna come out with a fucking AK 47. Oh, you're gonna you're gonna ask for their information.
SPEAKER_09You're gonna be like, what the hell, dude? Some of some of some. Hey, I think there is a glitch. I I don't know if it's a glitch. I think it is um uh in in your mic. Are we having audio problems? Yeah, yeah. We've been we've been like hearing like it might be the XLR.
SPEAKER_11I'll try to do the same thing. Uh BRB, hold on, hold on. Okay.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, because Samos is talking, but it's like Yeah.
SPEAKER_11Well I guess we're gonna have to just switch off me and Salmos. That is that's so crazy.
SPEAKER_09Last time it worked perfectly.
SPEAKER_11I think these these are different XLRs, to be fair. I don't know if they were necessarily built for this. So uh Salmos, do you have anything to say?
SPEAKER_01About about what again? Well we talking about GTA 6. Is mine working right now? Is this good? Uh yeah, we can hear it now. Okay, I'm gonna try not to move as much. I'm gonna stay just like this. GTA 6. Never played a GTA game before, but I am excited for this one. I might go and buy it when it comes out. And do it. We all we almost around. Goof around, maybe goof around. Maybe do some VODs on it, bro. Dude, yes. She's streamies. Yeah, hold on now. And you play, you play as whatever her name is. Uh, there's two characters you can play as, I think. Oh. So you can play as whatever her name is or play as whatever his name is.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. You can play as either. Like it's kind of like GJ5 with three characters, but this is two, I think. I don't know. But anyways, guys, anyways. Um, I have big news. Speaking of Godzilla, no, I'm just kidding. Um, I had no segue. I have big news, though, for the legal side of the game.
SPEAKER_00Just like Godzilla, I have big news.
SPEAKER_11Just yeah, just like Godzilla, big news. Um, California. This is the last of the gaming news, and I think we're inning on a high note. California passes the Protect Our Games Act. So this is obviously an act that has been paraded very well by, I believe his name is Chris Ward, um, or Stop Killing Games, as you may have heard on this podcast previously. Um, it requires publishers of paid digital content games to maintain game access or issue refunds when shutting down online servers. So if your game doesn't work and I bought it, you either make it work forever or you give me my money back. Nice. California state law.
SPEAKER_08So how does that work if it's because California passed it? Well, I'm assuming.
SPEAKER_11Well, here's the thing. Here's why I think it's really good. Much like other companies, if one thing does it, they're not gonna like they're gonna make a one size fits all production-wise, I'm assuming, right? They're not gonna just be like, fuck everyone else, because it's still they still had to do the same amount of work. You know what I mean? That's what I'm thinking. Unless you just hate people and they're willing to shell out money to hate you on purpose. But I think if they're gonna have to make a product specific to one state and not the rest, they're gonna make one product that just abides by that state.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_11You know what I'm saying? You know, you see what I'm thinking? Yeah. I think. Now I don't know. I don't know when this is gonna be enacted. Um but yeah. There's a I'm sure there's a lot of like ifs and buts or whatever, but um it's on sale or uh on or after January 1st, 2027. Uh however, it does exempt free-to-play titles and games offered solely through subscription service. So that could get a little finicky, but it's a step in the right direction. And just it's just so incredible how far the stop killing games movement has come. It just shows you the power is in the people. Because, like, you know, one guy just decided enough was enough, and now it's fucking massive. So I just think that's cool. I think it's an amazing thing. Good for California. California always does be promoting some really good consumer-friendly acts and laws. Power Yeah representation taxation. Similar to like UK as well, I think does a fairly good job of bringing things up in court. But just thought I'd end on a high note, and that will conclude the gaming section unless you guys have anything to say about any current games you're thinking about or playing or anything like that.
SPEAKER_00Shout out. I I was I was getting just talking to Mario.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah. And he's been begging me to play it with him, and I finally started playing it with him. And Loki, I am hooked. Speaking of Sony, Lego Horizon Adventures, y'all. Y'all heard about that game? Let me let me tell you about the weirdest thing. It's one of those games where it's like there's some things in like media or entertainment where you're like, I get it, but who is this for? That's kind of what it is like a horizon game, because it's like, I get it, I'm having so much fun. But who is this for? Is it for specifically me, someone who loved a horizon zero dawn game and also happens to love Lego games? And it's like, oh, here you go. But it's like how there there's nothing it it's such a strange game coming out of Lego when their other games have been Lego Batman, Lego Superman, Lego Iron Man, Lego Avengers, Lego Star Wars, like a Lego Horizon game? You made a Lego game off of a PlayStation exclusive.
SPEAKER_10True.
SPEAKER_01Very strange. But man, is it fun. Man, does it look amazing.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01They they in a completely different direction with this Lego game. It looks It looks better than Lego Batman Arkham. Oh wow. It looks real. Like it looks like I'm watching Lego movie. Wow.
SPEAKER_00And everything in the environment is made up of the darker, the ground, the water, everything. Wow. I'm very impressed. Very good game. Having a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_11Cool. Well, I will definitely check out gameplay because I only saw a short little snippet of it a couple years ago, but like it looks I mean it's maybe like you know, Sony Gorilla games and Lego, I'm assuming, are part of it, so it seems pretty pretty set up for success there. Yeah. Yeah. Um I'm just playing through James Bond. That's about it right now. Um sick.
SPEAKER_08Um I'm still waiting on my uh mouse private investigator game to come in.
SPEAKER_10Oh, okay, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um yeah, I haven't bought anything recently. Let's see what have I what was I've been playing. I've been playing Hogwarts Legacy. Oh, nice.
SPEAKER_11Uh I'm finishing that game. That game is really good. I like I played a good chunk of it. It's really fun. It's so fun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08I I've been having it for a while. I really bought it for wifey because she's a Harry Potter fan.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_08And I kind of watched her play it here and there, but then when I popped it in, I was like, let me just start playing this. I started playing it. I was like, oh shit. I'm shocked at how good uh porkkey games they they need to make another one because it's the story was good, you know. The the I think they fight in was good.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. And I think that game made uh dude, I think didn't that game make like a billion dollars? Yeah. Yeah, it's good, it's fun, and it like it makes you feel like a wizard. I'm not even into Harry Potter that much, but it made me feel it's like, oh, I'm a wizard, bro.
SPEAKER_08And talking about stories, that backstory was better than The Fantastic Beasts.
SPEAKER_11Oh, yeah, for sure, for sure.
SPEAKER_08I'm like, why could why does games make better stories than the fucking movies?
SPEAKER_11Well, it's so much more time, you know what I mean? Yeah, I feel that.
SPEAKER_08It's so much more time. Yeah. But um I I liked it. It was great. I'm finishing it. I not I don't know how far in I am. I'm pretty deep in it, so okay. I'll let y'all know when I finish it up.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, let me know. Um, well, y'all, it's time for movie talk.
SPEAKER_09It is time for movie talk. Uh let's just hop right in. Um, we are going to talk about uh basically indie movies taking over, even outperforming big blaster, big look, big blockbuster hits, you know.
SPEAKER_08The fall of Hollywood is before us.
SPEAKER_09Um, I yeah, something like that. Um, it just goes to show you that original movies are and will always be great if you have an amazing following and if they are good stories. Um, so I'm just gonna go first, right? Uh passenger. Um now here's the thing about this one, right? You know, it's I I gave it a 5.5 out of 10. Um the first name. Is this Indy?
SPEAKER_10This is Indy? No, this is a big name.
SPEAKER_09Oh, this is a big name. I mean, this is I mean, it's uh it's a um, yeah, it's a big name. It's from Paramount, but are we we're comparing? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So this so this one right here, so Paramount, you know, released it, everything like that, right? Um, it got 29.6 million. That's what it grossed, okay? The budget was 15 million. Damn. Oh dear. Yeah, yeah. Wasn't too bad of a loss, but yeah. Um, so now we go to um now what did you think? I'll cause I want to samos. What did you think about uh Passenger? I want to hear your um perspective.
SPEAKER_00It was pretty goofy.
SPEAKER_01Not gonna lie, there were definitely some strong elements, some strong scares, like the trailer, that first trailer specifically was pretty good. Like when they drive by and he's like standing the old man standing there, and they drive by again and again he's there. I was like, that's pretty creepy. The jump scare was kind of easy, but this was definitely one of those horror movies that's just like either you're gonna have a good time because you're like, oh, it's so it's so like goofy, or you're gonna be like, This I'm wasting my time, this is bad. Yeah, like there like there was there are definitely some pretty good ones where when she when that one lady's like leaving the gym and she's on her way to her van and she hears someone like running up behind her, she turns around and there's nobody, but then when she looks back at the van, she's just as far as she first started, yeah. Parked afar again. I was like, yo, that's good. Then that happens like three other times.
SPEAKER_11Wait, is the van farther away in the parking lot, or is she or is it the same exact like spot in the parking lot too?
SPEAKER_01So she like leaves the gym, sees the van way out in the parking lot. As she walks to it, she hears someone getting closer to her. When she's like 10 feet away from the van, she turns around, nobody's there, looks back, and the van is just as far as when she first started.
SPEAKER_11But she's in the middle of the parking lot.
SPEAKER_01In the middle of the parking lot's getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Oh and it was freaky, but then they did that scare like three more times because then she had to walk back to the van, and then when she gets there again, she turns around and nothing, and she turns back around and the van's far again. I'm like, guys.
SPEAKER_11They thought they really cooked with that one.
SPEAKER_09They did too much. Well, and then again the thing about it is the first half of the movie was the best part of the movie.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_09It it really was because it gave you like this sense of urgency and like what is really going on, like this demonic spirit, you know, that is on the highway, and it's just like, okay, the first half, and then we get to the second half, and it's just like we don't really know like what's really going on, and then they get to this like church and everything, like like spoiler alert. I mean, it's almost out of theaters, anyways, whatever, bro. But then they like have to find this church, and then it's just like the whole, like, the whole second half was just like, eh. So that's why I gave it like a 5.5 out of 10. Because like the first half was will get you intrigued. It'll it'll have enough things and enough like I want to say shock releases to keep you in for the second half, and then after the movie, it's just like, bro, what are we doing? Like the second half, well, like, do we even need like you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01So like literally the beginning of it also the beginning was stretched out so the the first half of the movie is just the trailer, and stretched it out for so like there's a scene where when the guy leaves and he goes back to his car, when the guy leaves and he goes back to his car, and uh all the doors of his car are open and the horn is going off. He goes, he walks up to the car, he looks around, and then he slowly walks around the car and shuts every door one by one while the camera is inside the car and the horn is going off the entire time. So it's like an eight-minute, 10-minute scene of a guy walking around a car shutting the doors while his horn is going off the entire time. I was like, dude, turn that off. Yeah, like it was just annoying for no reason. And then, like, three scratch marks on the car as a warning, cringe. And then they find this old lady who's like an old traveler who knows all those signs. And she's like, three sign, three claw marks on your car means danger. Don't park there. And then she knows all the rules, don't drive at night, don't stop, don't do this, don't do that. Then they go to find her because they're like, we can't get rid of this demon, help us get rid of this demon. And she's like, Oh, well, I can't help you. And then the girl's like, I don't even remember what she does, but she changes her mind, and the old lady's like, Okay, dead of night, dead of night. The lady's like, Okay, let's drive.
SPEAKER_06Rule number one was don't drive at night. You just said that. She, as soon as she says, let's drive, the demon shows up behind her and like breaks her neck.
SPEAKER_09Literally, like breaks her fucking neck.
SPEAKER_01Like, it's like the demon appears in the car with her.
SPEAKER_09In the car with her and like claws her neck out. Like, it is so stupid. It is, I'm like, okay, at this point, I'm just like, you know what? They honestly, they could have let, they could have let her get like halfway there. If I was the director, I was like, okay, they're gonna go on this trip, they're gonna find this church, but the lady is not gonna make it halfway there to the church. You know what I'm saying? That would have been a better kind of like, you know, scene. But after that, I was just like, okay, all right, this is yeah, this is not where uh I never thought it was gonna go the way that I thought. But goofy.
SPEAKER_01Or even the lady not going with them and being like, no, you guys are on your own. And then at the very end, you find the lady shows up like she followed them because she was like, I knew you guys needed my help, and I just had to, and she sacrifices herself to help, or something like that. Like that, even that would have been better. Yeah, but no, the movie just it felt like the movie had one premise, which was the trailer, and then the rest they just gave up. Yeah. And it was like, you know, whatever. And also, demons are boring in horror movies. Sorry.
SPEAKER_09Um, it depends on how you place the demons. Um, I think I think uh demons and I don't think demons are like old, but I think it's just uh um certain thing that they're just like to use. It's a demonic, just demon. It's just like their go-to without actually explaining the history or whatever the demon is, right?
SPEAKER_08Um I like the Evil Dead series with you know their takes on the demons.
SPEAKER_01I haven't seen the Evil Dead, but I've seen the trailer to Evil Dead burn like seven billion times.
SPEAKER_09So Evil Dead Evil Dead does it correctly. Like they they know how to they understand what's going on, the director, the producers, they know how to create a character from the demons. Um and I also think the conjuring uh universe, just to talk about demons, I think the conjuring universe is really good. Um they do a really good job of it explaining the demons as well. The the nun was really good in the conjuring.
SPEAKER_11The nun. I don't know about the nun nun, but like the nun and the conjuring two was oh my the nun movie was so stupid.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08Everybody thought none was gonna go crazy because of how crazy it was in Conjuring 2.
SPEAKER_09The Conjuring 2, the Nun. I was like, oh shit. But none was the scary like the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life.
SPEAKER_11I watched that shit before and after the nun movie, and I was like, how did they get the the scariest shit in in literally one minute of the movie, but not the fucking that's I don't know, literally, bro.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah, the nun was uh I I went to go see that in theaters and I was just like, wow, the nun in conjuring two was scarier than this bullshit. But hey, yeah, but all that to say is that yes, Paramount Pictures produced and released Passenger, and then we're gonna get to the indie films, right? So first on our list is called Obsession. Now, if you haven't seen Obsession, I'm pretty sure if you're listening to this podcast, you've already seen the movie. Um, but Obsession is a 2025 American. Hold on. No, no, no. It was created in 2025, it was released um May 15th, 2026. Yes. Um, the budget. So we're talking about 15 million to produce the passenger, right? The budget for obsession less than a mil, I think, was $750,000. And the box office as it stands right now is $224.8 million.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_09Was that like uh a thousand percent? Blum Blum uh Blum House Productions um produced it. So the investment on like that return. Oh my god. Um it is man um becoming focused features. Okay, it's also uh Blum House Productions, uh Focus Features. Yeah, focus features acquired the uh distribution rights for $14 to $15 million, highest price command commanded by genre film. Yep, yep. Um highest grossing film of all time and the ninth highest grossing film of 2026. So it's focused features, uh, highest grossing film of all time.
SPEAKER_02Ah, oh man.
SPEAKER_09Now I'm not gonna explain the plot, anything like that. You gotta go see it. It's still in theaters. Um, but still speaking of indie films, um let's go to back rooms. Now, back rooms 2026, A24, all right? Now, A24, they've been they've been killing it for a minute now. Their films are, listen, I'll say most of the time they hit, okay? Most of the time, all right?
SPEAKER_08I ain't gonna lie, I thought I was like, when I saw that trailer on YouTube for the first time, I was like, what the fuck is this shit? I was like, what the fuck is this shit? Ain't nobody gonna watch this shit. And then they come out here and break the bank like that on crack the back of my head. I was like, oh shit. So I know it was like based off a book or something.
SPEAKER_09So uh YouTube, like a YouTube web series. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, January 2022, Parsons was approached by several studios about potentially adapting his series into a feature film. In February 2023, it was officially announced that work had begun on the film adaption of the backrooms based on Parsons' videos with Parsons directing. Now, budget 10 million, okay? 10 million box office as it stands right now, and this movie came out May 29th, 2026, okay? 212.7 million. It is A24's highest grossing film to date.
SPEAKER_01It's good. I've seen it twice already.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Um production companies, North Road Films, 21 Laps, uh Entertainment, and then Atomic Monster. Um, but yeah, the production companies, but like distributed by A24. I mean, y'all, listen. Backrooms Obsession, these are two movies that have that are directed by Gen Z, like the generation. Like Gen Z. Yeah. Um that goes to show you that just because, you know, I'm saying Steven Spielberg because that's just a top director, you don't have to be a Steven Spielberg, you don't have to be um uh Quentin Tarantino, you don't have to be bro. You can start out slow, you can start out just doing what you want to do, get approached and by a distributing company, A24 or Focus Films. It doesn't matter. What I'm saying is original films still matter. And in a day and age where we are sequels and prequels and all of this and just superhero films, uh listen, love all of that, right? But at some point, we need more original movies. And I think backrooms, I think obsession, I think just strictly for the horror, you know, thriller genre like has done wonders. It's all it's honestly made me want to go back to the movies again. So, yeah, obsession, I gave obsession a 10 out of 10. Um, just because of just how the directing was and how it just wasn't a lot of CGI. It was just like it was real. It felt like you were there in the fucking moment. And I think that's why it kind of was so like it kept me on my feet, and it was like, damn, like in the bedroom, they're like, it's like face to face, you know? And then backrooms, it's like this, this, this world in the what, the 19, 1980s, right?
SPEAKER_01Or uh it's like 1999, yeah, 1990s, yeah.
SPEAKER_091990s.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, just to just about the 2000s. Yeah, 1990s. So there was no cells.
SPEAKER_09And what made it so scary was because there was no cell phones. There was no, I'm not, I'm not trying to give the whole plot away, but I'm like, it's just like that moment in time where you really couldn't call for help, you know? And you're stuck in this place, and the place keeps going and going and going.
SPEAKER_08And it's like, what the fuck is this? So he didn't have GPS. You mean he didn't have GPS to find his way out? No.
SPEAKER_06Siri, take me home, Siri. Oh man.
SPEAKER_08There's no signal. You are fucked.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. But I'm all I'm saying is, man, original movies still stand. We need more original movies, and we just need to more good movies. That's what we need. Yeah, original and good movies that know how to keep the audience good writing, bro. Yes, we need good writing. Yeah, I'll say Obsession and um back rooms has some really good writing.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, fantastic.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_08Um, I think uh it's kind of I hope these major uh distribution companies and these you know major corporations like Universal, Disney, and uh all of them take note. But at the same time, I'm like, in the back of my head, I'm like, nah, these motherfuckers don't care. Because honestly, they're not making money off movies, bro. They're making money, they're taking losses. A lot of these movies have been have been losses anyway. They're making all their money from the parks. Like these theme parks is where they're killing all their money. And I've really it it hit me when I saw when they made when they announced that they were doing Mandalorian and Grogu a movie. I'm like, these motherfuckers are getting lazy. Yeah, like you took a series and turned it, like, yeah, like we ain't got no ideas. Let's just get his like get this nigga a movie.
SPEAKER_11They were it was like literally like four episodes shoved together, and they were pretty good. If they were episodes, they'd be pretty good episodes. The movie was super entertaining, like I'm glad it's a lot, but also it's just like this is very obvious like I didn't cut the show on the big screen with a good budget. I'm just thinking like they just not have anything to title the uh like like they haven't had a movie in six years and this is what they come out with, and I'm just kind of confused because I'm like, some some YouTuber was like, normally it's like a giant celebration that awards the back in theaters. Yeah. Even their own marketing was like, Yes, uh, here's our movie.
SPEAKER_08How do you feel Mario that it didn't that it's uh like these the indie movies are like right there? I think start as of right now, Star Wars is like at 293 worldwide box office. Um and TJ already you already said the numbers, what 212 for um back back rooms and then uh obsession got like two something too.
SPEAKER_01Two rated R movies, too. Yeah, and horror and horror horror-rated R movies are coming close to a box office PG 13, like kids. Not just any box. Children's slot tests, Star Wars, bro.
SPEAKER_08Star Wars is an epic IP. It's not supposed to Star Wars is supposed to make a billion every movie they drop, bro. It's that it's that big. I mean, come back to good stuff, you know.
SPEAKER_09I'm I hope it keeps happening because it's the budget, the budget for uh the Mandalorian and Grog, uh, what is it, Mandalorian? Yeah, and Grogu was 165 million. Wow. The box office total right now is 294 million. That is not good. I'm sorry. That's not that's not that's it's it's not good for it. It came out, it came out May 22nd.
SPEAKER_08They had a 70% drop off from the first weekend to the second weekend.
SPEAKER_09And then I think last week or a week before, like on a random Wednesday, Obsession like beat the uh it beat the uh Mandalorian and Grogu in like ticket sales.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, I mean I saw Obsession today.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, and it was packed, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_01I I went to see it today. Full. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, the word of mouth is is bring is getting people to go.
SPEAKER_01All the trends on Instagram, all these freaking girlfriends being creepy as hell, bro.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but my thing is.
SPEAKER_09This or you know, word of mouth is still I think people forget about word of mouth, right? That is one of still and always will be one of the biggest ways to promote your thing, your movies, your anything, right? But at the same time, it's like it's just lazy writing. Like, who is in like who even discussed the Mandalorian and Grogu? Like, who thought this would be a fucking good idea to release? Y'all marketing was shit. Like, it just it was just lazy. This film, like, even when I went to go see Obsession, I went to go see Backrooms, right? I just felt the marketing for the Mandalorian and Grogu was just lazy.
SPEAKER_08And how much did you say the budget was, TJ? 165 million. You know, probably like a quarter of that, maybe a little more, was for the fucking Super Bowl ad that they did. Yeah. And the Super Bowl ad was like literally Mandalorian and Grogu just standing there and shit.
SPEAKER_06And it was like, what the fuck did they do? I don't even remember that commercial.
SPEAKER_09I remember it, yeah. It was just like, yeah. I just, you know, I think I think there have been talks about like a lot of the production companies, like the big production companies, have been taking notice, like after the success of Obsession, and then the success of Backrooms.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Iron Lung. Come on, we can't forget about Iron Lion Lung.
SPEAKER_09We forgot about Iron Long.
SPEAKER_01Oh, and Iron Long wasn't as good. But the million dollars.
SPEAKER_09Holy original, original stories.
SPEAKER_01Original story, original company. He produced it and acted in it and paid for everything.
SPEAKER_11But Marker Player did like free light.
SPEAKER_01Oh. Wait, what'd you say? It's like a one-dollar game, but Iron Line. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But I meant like he's the one that like did everything for you. He reached out to the guy and was like, hey, I want this.
SPEAKER_11And he's like, okay. But yes, they're just very unique like stories. So it's very what I like how they light a fire.
SPEAKER_09I'm excited. I'm honestly I'm excited about like the original content that is brewing. And I think that is, you know, because we're only in June, right? We have man, the summer is only like we're literally in the beginning of summer. So I can't wait to see what else is coming out. Um, I don't even have that list up of what else is coming out. Let me see.
SPEAKER_01We got Spider-Man, the new Spider-Man's coming out.
SPEAKER_09Supergirl's coming out, Spider-Man's coming out, Odyssey.
SPEAKER_01Smile three. Really? Hello. Yeah. Dude, forget Smile One. Smile two is like unironically, one of my favorite horror movies. No, dude. The first in my opinion, the first one isn't as good. The second one just takes full advantage of what the entity is. Check it out. Trust me. I didn't like trust me. Trust me. Check out the second one. One of my favorite horror movies of all time. Um talk to me. I think people obsession.
SPEAKER_09I I keep going back to back and I'm thinking, like, what was one of the biggest original movies like that kind of like shook the kind of like the spear, right? That was produced by a major, you know, company. And I was like, damn. I was like, centers. I was like, Centers was an original movie. And, you know, even, you know, and it did well. It did well. And, you know, it's it's just crazy because I think that's really what started it off. And I'm trying to think if I can go back, but I feel like centers was poised to be like they're like, oh, it's not gonna do well. And then it ended up almost making close to 500 million dollars.
SPEAKER_01I would say the same thing, word of mouth for that one too.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah. Well, because people kept going back to watching. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I feel like so fun.
SPEAKER_11I don't know if I might set out or not, but because I literally it's out, it's out. Oh, um, hello, Tesla. Okay. Um, shout out the the consistent thing about Mandalorian and Grogu. Uh huh.
SPEAKER_10Where they sort of flipped Star Wars. It was almost barely Star Wars, but they flipped the glitch.
SPEAKER_11It's like a glitch. And had like a trap beat. And I just want to say, shout out Ludwig, because he also did the score. That man stays working. It stays working, bro.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And even though Ryan Kugler had to put up money like to direct it and everything like that, it worked out.
SPEAKER_11Like it really Kugler knew he was gonna be set for life if that movie worked. He was like, I know I'm putting up my own money, but like I know if if this works, I'm gonna do it. Yeah, he can make whatever the fuck he wants forever. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, we'll find more like movies in the sinner's world. That'd be cool.
SPEAKER_11Like now that it's like, bro, if it showed the well, it's weird because they have to like be secretive about it, you know. That's how they've survived for so long, if you like.
SPEAKER_01The vampire? Yeah.
SPEAKER_09But it'd be cool if there was some type of thing. Yeah. I just I just will be able to do that.
SPEAKER_01You guys learn about the spin-offs that um Curry wants to do for Obsession, yeah. He wants to make a show. He's talking about making a show where every episode is somebody else's wish. And some episodes are gonna be, you know, 30 minutes, some episodes will be an hour and a half, some will be an hour, because not all wishes. Yeah. Well, and then but then he was like, it'd be funny if one episode was like everything just works out perfectly fine, yeah.
SPEAKER_09And then can I go through the list of like sorry to interrupt, uh, Sonic? No, no, no. But the list of films. So this is y'all, this is 2026, right? The highest grossing films of 2026, one, the Super Mario Galaxy movie, just at a billion.
SPEAKER_03Wow.
SPEAKER_09Just at a billion. Then we have, wow, Michael, wow shit. Michael is at 888 million right now.
SPEAKER_08I did not know it got it was that.
SPEAKER_09I don't think it's opened yet. This is this is working. Yeah, it's still in theaters, yeah. Um, it's this is worldwide gross, by the way. Um, but still, oh my god. Uh in Lionsgate, yeah. Uh Project Hail Mary. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_10That was good.
SPEAKER_09Okay, that's $680 million. The Devil Worlds Prada, cool. 600 uh two, sorry. Um, 663 million, Pegasus 3, uh Hoppers, and then Oh, Hoppers. Yeah. And then the Mandalorian, Grogu, Wuthering Heights. Dude, what did Hypers make? What did Hoppers make? Hoppers made $387 million worldwide. Okay.
SPEAKER_08And up some low-end for Pixar movement. Uh Pixar isn't what it was. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then on numbered numbers. Man, I was rewatching. Uh, I've been re-watching like the oldish DreamWorks movies, like B movie, Mega Mind. Yeah. Um man, they do not make movies like that anymore, bro. I watched Hoppers. I was like, Dreamworks just fell off a little bit recently. But I wasn't cackling. What is Word Heights? I don't know. I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_09Oh, that's the one with Jacob Alordy and Margaret, uh, Margaret Robbie. Okay, all right, yeah. Um, and then number 10 is Obsession with 224 million. That's the top 10. Those are the top 10 movies of um top 10 movies of 2026 worldwide, and then the box office records. Of course, Super Mario Film uh series surpassed 2 billion with the release of the Super Mario Galaxy movie. It became the first video game film franchise to surpass 2 billion.
SPEAKER_08Okay. Alright. Really? Uh Sonic, what is Sonic? Sonic ain't on there?
SPEAKER_09I thought Sonic was on there.
SPEAKER_08Sonic, um, yeah. Maybe, maybe not. I know they got three, but I know they probably didn't make a Billy, but I know they at least made like I know. I thought it was the 500 something.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Sonic franchise. Yeah, I'm gonna look that up while y'all. Y'all can keep talking. I'm gonna look that up.
SPEAKER_01In the at the the Yeah, yeah, yeah. Electronic Express, they would they used to have massage chairs lined up in front of the TV so you could go and try out the massage chairs. No, but they on the TVs they'd always have the Sonic movie playing. And so during the summers, me and my friends, we would go over, we'd work out, then we'd drive over to Electronic Express on the way home and chill in the seats, get a massage and watch the Sonic movies.
SPEAKER_09So I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Now that movie's like become a comfort movie for me every time I think about it.
SPEAKER_09So the Sonic hitchhikes. Dude, it is, it's so fun. Congress. All the Sonic movies are grows $1.2 billion. So it's $1.2 billion.
SPEAKER_08All three together.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so Sonic the Hedgehog first, 2020 gross $319.7 million under a budget of $85 million. Then the second one, uh, 2022 gross $405.7 million under a 90 million budget. And then the third one grossed $492 million uh on a $122 million budget.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I guess COVID hurt the first one probably a little bit.
SPEAKER_09Oh, yeah, most definitely. Um, I think I think each one has like gotten more, you know, money significantly. But yeah, I was thinking, I was like, damn, not the Sonic franchise, but yeah, $1.2 billion. And you know, like when you're still good though. Yeah, it is. But when you think about Sonic and you think about Mario and you think about Universal kind of wise, like Mario has more appeal. For sure, for sure. Yeah, Sonic is still my native.
SPEAKER_01It's a live action, it's animated. Yeah, which is a bunch of fun goofy code.
SPEAKER_08You can do a little more with the animation. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, man. I'll talk about it. Talking about box offices too, I wanted to. I know we're about to jump to scary movie. Oh, okay. But I wanted to point out they're doing real good. They did so good that they overshadowed, like nobody went to go see Masters. I think everybody went to see Scary Movie. Nobody went to go see Masters of the Universe. I've I was like kind of I wanted to see Masters of the Universe bad, but we couldn't, we couldn't get a babysitter twice this past week. So it's like I was like, bro, I want to go see it. I see it's only made like 30 million this past weekend. I'm like, that's bad. Yeah, I heard it's a fun time. Probably gonna try, we're gonna try to go see it next week because I know it looks good. I have I heard Jared Leto killed his role. Oh, really? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And uh Jared making a comeback?
SPEAKER_08Skeletor. Skeletor, yeah.
SPEAKER_09It received negative reviews from critics, but grossed 106 million against a 30 million budget. That's what I'm talking about. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Uh I thought the movie was I thought the movie was funny, it was hilarious as hell. I know some people that didn't uh like it. I've heard some crit critiques where they were like the jokes didn't land that well. I feel like the jokes landed for me, but I can understand some people that didn't get it, because it's like like Salmos, I know you was asking, like, would it, would it be okay if I you didn't watch the original like first three or first two scary movies and still think it was funny? I feel like you some of that some of the jokes might have gone over your head if you didn't see it, but it's still like if you go into it knowing this is a goofy ass movie, and you know it's a Wayne's production, like they're gonna they're gonna take it to the next level.
SPEAKER_09Like if you are uncomfortable, like I'll tell I like going into this movie, I knew, like I already knew this was a Wayne's production. Like they are a comedic family, so a lot of shit, like a lot of people don't understand, like they tell jokes, like jokes. And you know, jokes to them and their family might not be jokes to everyone, right? Um, I heard, you know, just going off of like the Instagram and Twitter and the threads and all of that, people were like, I don't think they should have made that joke. Listen, it's just not for you. Like, they went to everybody though. Nobody was saying, they got everybody. Like it just wasn't, you know, it wasn't just you know, fat people, or it just wasn't, you know what I'm saying? It went for everybody. So, and I think that's the comedic genius that the um that that family has, because it's like, well, I'm gonna talk about fat people, I'm gonna talk about skinny people too. I'm gonna talk, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, um, you know, so yeah, I enjoyed it thoroughly. I um a lot of the scenes were, you know, from kind of like the the um oh my gosh, what what was that horror movie with the little kids? Oh, hold on. Weapons, weapons, yes, weapons, yes.
SPEAKER_08That weapons smile in there, too.
SPEAKER_01Weapons so many good ones. They should have put the back, honestly. I feel like the backgrounds would have been kind of funny.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, they even did John Wick. That wouldn't be a horror movie, yeah.
SPEAKER_01They did John Wick, dude. That was pretty cool. Yeah, so yeah, that was my that was the first time I've ever seen a scary movie. I didn't even know what scary movie was. So I walked in like it's gonna be a movie that makes fun of horror movies. Let's go.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, immediately, like the couple is talking, and there's like in the background, they're just mass destructed. I was like, what is going on right now? What is happening? And then as the movie kept going on, I slowly was like that's kind of it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's that's kind of what it is.
SPEAKER_01That's it, you don't understand what's going on, and honestly, call me evil. The jokes didn't hit as hard for me because they didn't go all the way. It felt like they were like, We're gonna joke about this, but anymore, and then we're done. Next joke. And I was like, they definitely, and I get it, you don't want to ruffle too many feathers because then it's like now people are uncomfortable because you just made fun of, you know, their their body shape or their sexuality or their whatever. But it's like if you're gonna attack everybody, attack everybody, so then I don't know, I to make it funny, but it fits some of the some of the parts. Well, that's what I'm saying. They did advertise they would do yeah, they advertise we're not holding back, but when I watched it, I was like, but you kinda did, but you kinda did. You're kinda saying what you kind of want to say, but why aren't you just saying it? Yeah, come on now, come on now, give it to me, give it to me.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah. I I enjoy myself, I enjoy myself, and uh yeah, man.
SPEAKER_04It yeah, but yeah, I'm happy that it did well. I was laughing the the weapons mode was funny, all the kids running to the street, I'm so fucking high, and they're just like around six seven, get smashed by all.
SPEAKER_08I think a little bit of it too is like it was so many references that they didn't play fully on each one, you know what I mean? Like it was like it'd be one scene and they and they spent off two jokes.
SPEAKER_06The centers one was so funny.
SPEAKER_08Holy centers, yeah. And then uh, yeah, because it was so funny. He he always kind of uh played the the gay character in the first two movies, too. Yep. So they kind of went they I feel like they went pretty far with the with with his character, his his character, because and he he he's it's his first time coming back to the big screen in like years. We haven't seen Sean in how long, TJ. It's been many rounds.
SPEAKER_09It's been years, it's been like over a decade.
SPEAKER_08I think the last time we saw him was maybe Little Man when they did the little man movie.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. He don't he really he really doesn't like to be in the spotlight. Like, you know, like Marlon, he loves doing all of that stuff, but his like his brother, like he will stay in the back and direct or protect or do whatever. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, man, number one, it'll probably be number one this week. Um 105, 106.
SPEAKER_08I'm so glad that they did well because Marlon already said, like, if it does well, it's depending on how well this movie does. They're good they could potentially do white chicks too. I feel like the trajectory they're on right now, we definitely gonna get white chicks too. Oh man. And that shit, I know that shit's gonna be a good one.
SPEAKER_01Hear me out, guys. Instead of white chicks too, they do black guys. Two white girls dress up as black guys.
unknownOh, that'd be funny.
SPEAKER_01Bada bing, bada boom. The story writes itself, guys. The story writes itself.
SPEAKER_09Who are we gonna get to who are we gonna get to do that one? Who's gonna get to do that one though?
SPEAKER_06Regular two regular black guys, dude. No, man. That that made me laugh too. The little white chicks, little sprinkling of little white chicks in there, that got me. Yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, they had a white chicks reference, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's good, it's it was good, it was good. It was fun. But then, but in there they said he was like white chicks too. He was like, no fucking way. So, but I can't tell if he was saying that like no way. But it sounded like he was saying that like actually no way. Yeah, you think so? White chick and white chicks too. Wow, that would be crazy. That would be crazy. So many like so many possibilities the possibilities are endless. Yeah. Endless.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Well, um, love it. Uh Scary Movie Six is in theaters now, guys. Uh, make sure you got that AMC stub so you can go and watch Scary Movie Obsession and Backrooms back to back. Back to back. Um, all right, let's do this. Uh what's the Odyssey news, uh, Samos?
SPEAKER_01Odyssey news. Honestly, what y'all think about that popcorn bucket?
SPEAKER_08I need to let me look it up. I haven't seen it. Let me see the page.
SPEAKER_01They did not go Trojan horse, they went IMAX camera. I like I like it, but I also would not have minded the Trojan horse. I feel like if you were to give me both those options, I'd be like, man, which one would I actually want? I don't know. But the IMAX camera is pretty cool.
SPEAKER_09It's sold out already.
SPEAKER_08I see a picture that says sold out.
SPEAKER_01Come on now.
SPEAKER_08But so everybody must have liked that one.
SPEAKER_01Dang. Also, scary movie popcorn bucket. What was that? I can't remember. Was it the scream face? Was the one they officially sold? But the baked one, your cheeser ones were bongs.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I got a poster for the bigger. They were bongs.
SPEAKER_01That's a scary movie. You can put popcorn. No, it's a bong. That's what I'm saying. They didn't go all the way. What are you doing? Go all the way. Come on, man.
SPEAKER_09You are you're crazy.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah. Oh, it is the phone. The Waza! Okay, the phone is cool. The phone is cool.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah. I think the same situation then. I actually do like the phone, but oh no, the bong would have been kind of funny too. And it would have been on theme. Whoa, like you can drink out of the antenna like it's a straw.
SPEAKER_09Oh, god. We just got news that Michael has now surpassed a 900 million worldwide at the box office. Oh shit. Yeah, it is Billy Jean.
SPEAKER_01Have you guys seen the Michael Jackson? Not to steer into a darker topic, but have you guys seen the Michael Jackson um documentary on Netflix that just came out? I haven't seen that yet.
SPEAKER_08What's it called?
SPEAKER_01The uh the the decision or yeah, something like that. I I actually was just watching it with my girl today because we went to see the Michael movie because we both love Michael Jackson. But the thing about that in that documentary is that it's taking actual videos of Michael talking, and Michael is so incriminating. He'd be like, I fatal addiction.
SPEAKER_09You know they edited that, right? They're suing Michael's estate is suing them because they edited that video. So the real video is him. Are you talking about that documentary they did on Netflix?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that just came out.
SPEAKER_09The Michael Estate is suing them, by the way. I just want to What? Yeah, the the the whole like the Jackson estate is suing them because they're not a lie to you.
SPEAKER_01Though I'm watching it and I'm watching these unlike they don't cut it of just videos of him talking, and they're like they of the interviewer asking him a question. So, Michael, you know, like can you say that again? Like the interviewer is confused. Like, did you just say that? And the thing is, I don't think Michael did anything.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like, I'm just gonna say that out loud right now. I do I I haven't finished the documentaries. I don't know.
SPEAKER_11Bro, I think mentally Michael Jackson was probably 10 years old for the rest of the time.
SPEAKER_09Bam. I mean, we we if we if we're listening if we're gonna go into that, let's let's just say this. Like, we're talking about Michael Jackson. We could also talk about Justin Bieber. We can also talk about there are so many, there are so many child stars. Let's talk about Miley Cyrus. We're talking about Demi Lovato. When you are a child star, right? And you are stuck, you know, once you get famous and you're stuck, you feel like everything is supposed to be the same, right? Even though you're growing up and everything like that, you know, I know a lot of the celebrities that I just mentioned, they went through their whole, you know what I'm saying? And some of them are still going and healing, you know, in the healing process and everything like that. But, you know, people don't understand child stars, like child stardom is nothing to fucking play with. Like it's nothing to fucking play with.
unknownLike you're never allowed.
SPEAKER_11Usually, usually like if you're if your parents are pushing you in like a sometimes even unhealthy way, like Joseph Jackson was.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_11Uh there's like a kid at the end. You're not allowed to be at all. Yeah. Yeah. Like the friend. Yeah. I think a lot of these kids like that. I just want to get yeah, like I want to give them the little life I never got.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know. The only life I know, the only childhood life I know is the ones I dream of or the ones I see in Peter Pand or whatever.
SPEAKER_10Very strange, Michael. People are gonna question that. He's like, well, whatever.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's like, What do you mean? Like, I'm just trying to I'm I'm had I'm having a good time. These kids are like loving me, and I'm having I have a zoo for them, I have these theme parks for them. Like, how do you not see that? But the thing is, we're like, yeah, that's in a movie. Yeah, but the thing is, it is so incriminating, and everything he was saying, I was like, go, like, let's not say that.
SPEAKER_10Anyone else doing this?
SPEAKER_01Yes, literally, and it and at the time, it's not like Michael's past was so open. It's not like everybody knew that Michael was abused like that. You know what I'm saying? So if you think about it like that, too, it's just like a random Michael Jackson, this pop star is now talking about how he likes to sleep with little kids in his bed.
SPEAKER_11Well, bro, it's funny. Growing up, I was like, I was like bred to think that this man's a creep by the tablets. So it's like Oh, really? Like, yeah, like watching. Yeah, dude, when I was growing up, it was like I was I just thought it was like, oh, who's that creepy, weird looking, like pale dude? Like he's a man. Like, I'm like, how is he so famous? Because I didn't know the peak Michael era as a kid. And I was like, how is he so famous that they all keep calling him a creek and he looked like a dead? It's like you go back and you're like, oh, this dude like went through everything and he's a legend, bro. Like yeah, like literally like my man definitely just was like was mentally stunted and hurt by like the people who were talking about him the most. Yeah. Like at least his father, but like his brother. That's what it takes to get a hunger in the end, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Luckily, my dad loves Michael Jackson, so yeah. I kind of I kind of got all only of the good, only the good of Michael.
SPEAKER_02Shout out escape, dude.
SPEAKER_01Shout out Escape, bro. One of the best Michael Jackson albums.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Um, speaking of escaping, escaping to the movies this summer, um, Regal Cinemas is bringing back dollar movie tickets all summer long. What and while AMC Theaters is offering three dollar tickets starting June 22nd.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_09So here's my theory, and I just read that, that just popped up on my timeline. My theory is they need to get people in those fucking seats. Yeah. They need to get people back in the movie theater because I remember we talked about it a while ago, uh, a couple of episodes ago, about um it was a conference, it was a big conference, and someone said the reason why nobody wants to go to the theaters or they're not going to the theaters like they used to is because you're paying $15 for popcorn and you're paying $10 for a soda, right? And it's like people are there to enjoy the movie. It's like make it enjoyable. Like, why like my thing is this, man. Why am I paying almost $9 for a Coke? Why am I paying $9 for a Coke? It's kind of crazy. There needs to be, I don't know how they can sustain it or that, but it has to be a better way of making a profit. Well the movies aren't making, oh, you're good. The movies aren't making money on tickets. They're not. But there has to be a way, like, you can't keep up charging the like because people are like, you know what I'm saying? Because like the concession stands, like, you need to bring profit in there. But it's like, why don't you just say, hey, let's lower it to $4.50, right? And let's see what it does. You know what I'm saying? Because at the end of the day, you already have your contract with Coca-Cola. You already have a contract with Coca-Cola. Let's see how it does. You know what I'm saying? Or have certain days out of the week, like maybe Tuesday, Thursday, um, you know, $2, $3 Cokes or something. I don't know, bro. But it has to be a better way, bro, because the last couple of times I went to the movies and I paid fucking nine, almost nine dollars for um a drink is crazy.
SPEAKER_01Dude, put a Pizza Hut, put a McDonald's, put a Chick-fil-A, open it up just like the mall. Have a food court in the theater where restaurants can go. Let me have my Popeyes while I watch my movie. Let me have my Burger King while I watch my movie. Replacing movie theaters.
SPEAKER_09A lot of movie theaters did back in the day. They had McDonald's and like McDonald's and Burger Kings in Brooks. Yes.
SPEAKER_11Isn't our movie theater removed? I don't they sh they removed bringing your diet your food. Yeah. They did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wait, they don't bring you your food anymore?
SPEAKER_09You have to you order it there and you get it there, and you you can maybe you can bring it in, but you don't get like there's no dine in anymore. There's no AMC dying in anymore. Yeah, because that was done.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because that was the upgrade. Don't do it no more. Don't do it no more, bro. Hey, I'm about to say that was the last one that I saw. Now that's why don't we sell food to you and then you go and sit down, and then halfway through the movie, a guy, a big guy with two bags of food, walks in front of you. That smells like shit. That smells like garbage, and he's like, excuse me, sorry, sorry, excuse me. No, and then now I have to eat it like on my lap, no table or anything. Dude, I went to watch Stranger Things season five finale. I went to see the Stranger Things five finale and dined in with uh because I was like, might as well, it's fun. I'm watching the finale, you know, whatever. Let's see what happens. Bro, this guy brought me the same order like seven different times. He walked to me, he was like, Here's your burger and fries that cost $27. And I was like, Thank you. And I ate it, and then like 20 minutes later, he comes back. Here are your burgers and fries. I was like, yo, I just ate that nastiness. I don't need that. He's like, okay, comes back five minutes later. Hey, here are your burgers and fries. I was like, come back again. I'm gonna break your kneecaps. You keep blocking my vision and you keep interrupting me. I'm I'm already pissed off because this low-key sucks. The food sucks.
SPEAKER_05What I'm watching sucks, and I can't even really watch it because this guy keeps trying to hand me burgers.
SPEAKER_06Bro, go away. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08Holy. I think when you got subscriptions, it's it makes it a little better, more affordable. Like you get rewards where you can get free popcorn and drinks, but you gotta, you know, I know you gotta spend a little bit to get those perks. Regals does it, AMC does it. I just think, honestly, like the food is high, but the tickets is high as hell, too. Like, it's literally unless you're rich, it's impossible to take a family, a small family, to the movies. Yeah, it's like I told y'all when we went to when I took my niece and nephews to go see Minecraft, uh, I spent like $120.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_01Hey, Minecraft 2, we need to talk about that too.
SPEAKER_08I'm like, that is I'm never doing that again. So that's why I'm like, if I go to the movies, I'm taking one or I'm taking one person. I ain't taking more than one person. That's bad.
SPEAKER_01That's actually diabolical.
SPEAKER_08That was just tickets, not even counting popcorn and drinks.
SPEAKER_01No, I never I don't get snacks at the theater anymore. I always go have my routine, get my same snacks. We'll be back. Uh I gotta pee. Oh, yeah. The boys we gotta talk about the boys.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, we gotta talk about the boys. The boys. We'll go pee.
SPEAKER_01Daredevils. Oh yeah. Dare the Dare Dobbly.
SPEAKER_09I'll let y'all handle that. The boys. I thought that engine was fucking stupid, but go ahead. No, it was it was uh not just the end.
SPEAKER_08I just put the whole season the whole season five.
SPEAKER_01That whole season was so bad. Yeah. So bad.
SPEAKER_08The only highlight was the only highlight was Soldier Boy. Anytime Soldier Boy was on screen, I'm like, okay, I'm paying attention. Anything outside of Soldier Boy, I was like, this shit is ass. I think I was mad that they I thought that they was gonna do away. This spinoff is gonna be sick, bro. Why don't you gargle mine?
SPEAKER_01He was ahead bad. That, yeah, he was really the only good. Oh my gosh, bro. I have you guys seen the ending of the comics? You know the ending of the comic books? Yeah, I heard about it. Man, man, that ended up.
SPEAKER_08It was actually uh Black Noir was Homelander's clone.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Black Noir was a Homelander's clone who actually went behind his back and did all the messed up stuff to drive him crazy.
SPEAKER_09Masters of the Universe has opened with 54.3 million worldwide. The budget is nearly 200 million. Damn. Yikes!
SPEAKER_01Jesus Christ is terrible.
SPEAKER_08I feel like I think it's gonna go up though, because people were saying it was good, you know. I mean, yeah. It's good. I think scary movie just dominated this weekend. It's very true. Scary movie dominated this.
SPEAKER_09I hope it I listen, I hope it crosses at least 100 million, but Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's tough. They they and they they launched it a at a bad time because it's yeah, other movies everybody was excited for, and then next month you got Spider-Man.
SPEAKER_09But studios have to understand, like, uh, I just feel like it's the same fucking people that have been in those fucking boardrooms and those meetings for 10, 20 years that don't understand, like everyone doesn't want to see a masters of the universe. Like, let's let's let's just take a like a temperature check. You know what I'm saying? Literally, like let's look around and see what the fuck is going on around the world.
SPEAKER_01A singular toe.
SPEAKER_09Yes. People want to go to a movie to experience something other than another franchise or another comic book. Like, we have enough. DC, Marvel, Transforms. We have enough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we do, and I'm so that Mattel is going crazy now, and they're gonna do like a Rock'em Sokum movie and a Monopoly movie.
SPEAKER_09Oh my god, because they have no fucking original ideas, yeah. Because they won't let millennials and Gen Z like take over, they just won't. They literally are just they're just like clutching to the curtains, they're not letting go at all.
SPEAKER_01It's like it's like they're still in that mode of they get to tell us what we want. Yes, but I feel like with the rise of the internet and social media and everything, w, brother. It's kind of like we can all now collectively agree on what we want and what we want to do.
SPEAKER_09And what we don't want, yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and what we don't want, you know?
SPEAKER_09And I think that is very like like we cemented that this, like, this sum, like this summer. With centers being, you know, with centers and iron lung and um uh backrooms and obsession. I think they're like, oh god, what like what's going on? You know what the fuck is going on. We don't want another franchise, we don't want another sequel. We want original movies that don't cost a lot to make.
SPEAKER_08Well, we used to get a lot of original stuff back in the you know 90s and early 2000s. Like that's what they keep trying to recreate the magic that we had back then. It's just I think it's like you said, they they're using big IP to try to reel people into the theaters because the MCU kind of kind of uh poison Hollywood. Well, people you know, people thinking like, oh, if it's a superhero attached to it, it's gonna automatically slap.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um but it's a good way to do everything, right? Like you just gotta have, like you said, you do good writing. It doesn't matter what it is, it can be it can do fine, but at the same time, like, yeah, we do gotta have new ideas, you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09All right. Well, let's talk about the boys. Let's uh let's keep rolling.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, we kind of talked about it, Mars.
SPEAKER_00Wow, thanks a lot.
SPEAKER_01Just a little bit, just a just a just a snidge.
SPEAKER_11Holy does what was that? Did we all see it?
SPEAKER_01Uh yes.
SPEAKER_09Unfortunately. Yeah, that was fucking awful.
SPEAKER_08I've never seen a show go so far downhill from season one to the last season.
SPEAKER_11Remember? Please watch the spinoffs. Spinoffs. Remember when we have you noticed that we have a spinoff coming out the entire fucking last season of the main entire last season? It's almost Mike. It's almost Mike. The entire last season of the of the of the show was is like half of it was focused on spin spin-off Soldier Boy. And I'm like, wait a minute, what are we doing?
SPEAKER_08Because they cancel Jin's uh V.
SPEAKER_11Gen V, I don't know who's spin-offs. I never watched Gen V and I got canceled. But um, I'll I'll try to kind of keep keep it brief here, but like the the biggest thing that I hated too was like so much hype up, and and a lot of shows mess this up. So much hype up, so much talk of scorched earth, whatever the fuck. And they even had posters, bro. They had posters of Homelander looking at the earth exploding from space, and then literally it was it all happened in like a in like so spoilers for the boys, I guess. Fuck, and then it all happened in in like an Oval Office, and dude, also some YouTuber mentioned this. You're telling me dude can fly fake Elon Musk into space and back within 0.5 milliseconds, but when Billy Butcher is walking towards him, he flies like he's on wires.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Mike pass his kryptonite. Mike pass. Holy, that whole end fight was so cringe. The only thing I liked was that Butcher killed him slowly. I was like, okay, at least give him that, but dude. What?
SPEAKER_11It was such a lame, like, even like it was just like I don't know, man. It was just like a still. It was such like a lamey, like, it was just so unceremonious for like season four ended like holy shit, butcher's going off the wall, like, okay, like, and then it was just like, for this, bro? I've been watching this.
SPEAKER_08And what happened to his disease?
SPEAKER_11Yo, it well, uh uh uh uh Kimiko knocked it out when she did the laser beam on all of them.
SPEAKER_08No, but no, he was he was still supposed to die from the from overusing the uh the serum.
SPEAKER_11Remember at the end of the season four, they were like he he was overusing the serum and and I think he was I think he was gonna die, but then like he he did the full serum, right? To like become a like thing, and then he was gonna die from that. But then I think because Kimiko like cured him of that, it all went away, I guess.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I just didn't see they didn't show any symptoms of him like you know, he ain't cough up blood or nothing.
SPEAKER_11It was just like it's like that part just got forgotten until I mean I guess you'd have 48 hours after that to go to Vaughton and get fucked anyways. I don't know, man. It's like I just don't, I'm like, what are we doing?
SPEAKER_08I I don't know. I think the soldier boy spinoff will be entertaining. I feel like he was the only highlight of the season. That's why I was telling them why.
SPEAKER_09My thing is this they canceled Jen Gen V, right? Was it was it Gen V? Yeah. Gen V, yeah. They canceled Gen V after the last episode. Like, honestly, I thought the last episode of Gen V was amazing. Like, I that how they did it, and then all of a sudden, oh, we're gonna cancel this, and then you're gonna make a fucking prequel to I'm like, bro, what are we doing? Who again, who are the writers in the fucking room? Like, who is like who's approving this, bro? Gen V was like could have done so much more, you know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and literally, how how did we go five seasons of the boys and a character named The Deep lives five seasons and we don't get to see him in the water at all? Zero times.
SPEAKER_08How? And uh what's his name's Def was so lame too.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh Yeah, like there's no underwater scenes of him. I'm talking like Aquaman, like we barely the only power we get to see him use is him talk to fish and stuff, but it's like what does he do? He had no character development at all. He was a sucky little boy the entire time until he died, which is fine, but I feel like there was so much potential of him like I don't know, changing, I guess, or like going his Homelander.
SPEAKER_08What's the Speedster's name? A Train. Yeah, A-Train. His death was so was so lame. I I felt like they set it up good, but then it's like, you know, he went out fighting Homelander, right? But then you ran and then tripped, and all Homelander did was break his neck. I was like, I thought he was, I thought Homelander, Homelander has done so much more brutal deaths. I felt like he A Train deserved a brutal death.
SPEAKER_11I don't know, yeah.
SPEAKER_08For the biggest character he was.
SPEAKER_11The show did a very job, weird job with power scaling and also um with like taking out uh like taking like just random death. Once they finally like get it, it's like the Joker in the Dark Knight is like, I would never know what to do if I actually caught you. You know, and when we need to catch up to the Also, can we just can we just uh speaking of the deep, uh how the fuck did a like squid like puncture him? Is he not a superhero or are they superhero squids? How did a fucking squid go? You know what I mean? Like it makes that makes no sense. It's like oh the squid, like is he not a superhero? Is the squid just super powerful? Because that doesn't make sense. I thought what something's happening where it's like it isn't does he only have the power of water, but he's a normal dude that can get punched?
SPEAKER_01Like it just opposed to have super strength after and like So you're telling me Starlight is like, don't worry, guys, I got this, takes the deep to the beach to fight him. What yeah, and she did not know he couldn't go in the water, and also where she s absorbs energy from around her, but she's in the middle of like the beach. Yeah, getting getting like the most boring death. Also, all the like the bo for me, not gonna lie. I watch the boys for the messed up stuff. And gruesome kills. The kills in that last season were the last season were so st every single one was so stupid. Homelander crushed like so many different heads, and it was like, really? That's what you're gonna do? The classic. Uh I don't know, it was just so lame. And all the other boys, even though it was gruesome, it was like on purpose to show how much these how powerful these superheroes are and how much they don't care. Yeah, dude. That first season was so good.
unknownIt felt sorry.
SPEAKER_11Uh the first season actually felt scary because I felt it it felt so realistic, it felt so real. And like, and that was the time where it was like, oh, these this is like real life, it's smaller stakes, but then they built up every season big, big, big, big, big, big, big, and then it was just like still small stakes, but in like a weird way because it's literally like evil Superman. I don't know. It was a really weird trajectory, and it was so much hype. Bro, I've been watching this show since I was like 24. I'm 30, bro. This is the end. And then it's like, oh, well, we also got more show. We got Boys Mexico and and Vault Rising. It's like, that's great. What about the boys? What about making the main show good? This is like the Amazing Spider-Man 2 problem, where the whole fucking movie they're like, we got Sinister Six coming out, and it's like, yeah, but I want to watch Andrew Garfield in a good movie.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01I actually, I actually agree. This this has not been a good year for shows ending for finales, let me just say. Like, holy moly, what are we doing?
SPEAKER_09I I think, I think, honestly, you know, we just got off the movie spill, but let's tie all of this in, right? Everyone is thinking about profits, everyone is thinking, how can we, if it's the last season, it's whatever, right? And I just feel like it's just again, we go back to the lazy writing, but it's fucking true. It's like, yeah, people are gonna watch the boys and everything like that. So who gives a fuck, right? I feel like you have half of the room that's like, okay, let's really get down and have this written down and you know, give them a good storyline. And then you have the other people just like, no, let's just get it over with. You know what I'm saying? Like, I I just I want so much more for TV shows and movies in general, and it's not always thinking about, yes, you have to have money, but at the same time, you can do so much. We've seen it, we've seen it, we've seen it, and I just feel like we need to get back to it. I just want a I want better TV show that just that goes for the boys, that goes for fucking euphoria. My God, what a fool. Fucking season, Jesus.
SPEAKER_01Oh, is it not good?
SPEAKER_09Bro, I don't watch it. I don't even I will we'll talk we'll talk about that next uh next episode, bro, next week or um not next week, in two weeks, but the ending of Euphoria was just God.
SPEAKER_01This is the end. Yeah, season four. Like that that's how much of the elope of you.
SPEAKER_09Well, Sam Sam Livison Sam Livison doesn't like I don't think they want to, like, none of the cast, like I mean, you think about it, Zendaya, uh, Jacob Alordy, um, all of those people are superstars, like super superstars now. And they don't they don't want to do that shit anymore. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and I was just about to say, how much of it do you think is the creators and you know, the actors? After a while, a lot of times these people outgrow from when it was season one. Like uh, what's his name? Butcher. He's like in his prime right now making hella shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um, how much of that? Yeah, I think a lot of I think that plays a factor in these these studios wrapping up these shows, especially right now in today's time, because a lot of these shows are on these streaming platforms. And it's like, bro, we got so much shit. Like Amazon, like, fuck boys. We we we got Spider-Man Noir coming, and we got Invincible and all this other shit. Like, so it's like it's hard for a studio to juggle. I know it's different teams working on these shows, but it's like they juggling all this, and it's not gonna be everything ain't gonna be perfect. It sucks because we hate we love the shows.
SPEAKER_09I would just hate to work in like TV right now because it's just you never know. Like you never fucking know. Like it's just a guessing game, you know? Um, but yeah, back to the boys. Um, yeah, shit ending. I didn't I didn't like it. Um what else? Hold on. I know there was another show.
SPEAKER_01The writing is so cringe. As soon as Kamiko opened her mouth, I was like, nope. Nope.
SPEAKER_09We got Daredevil. We got Daredevil. We don't have to talk about Daredevil until you can until you've seen the ending uh Salmos.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. I mean, it I mean it's okay. I'm behind that show came out so long ago, so yeah.
SPEAKER_08Well we ain't gotta say spoilers. I think uh I think I just think the Netflix show is better. It's better, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the what's the what show?
SPEAKER_08The Netflix version. The one you're watching. Yeah, dude, it's good, man. It's good. Like the the mystery, the the I feel like Netflix did a real good job of making Kingpin this big bad guy. And I feel like in the newer this uh the Disney's uh version, it's kind of like he's just a bad guy, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Like, did you guys know?
SPEAKER_08He's not scary to me. Yeah, Hawkeye.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's literally just walking around New York in the street in Hawkeye, and then my dad, because I remember watching Hawkeye with my dad, who my dad loved Daredevil, and he was like, Whoa, that's Kingpin. Why is he just walking around the streets of New York? Bro, he would not be caught dead doing that in the Netflix show. He was like surrounded by guards or always in his building, or dude, like yeah, they made him like a regular guy.
SPEAKER_08I felt like he got way too easy. Yeah, they took away the aura for sure. Umorless. Yeah, because even in Punisher, like the Netflix uh series when they did Punisher, he was like he was that dude, you know.
SPEAKER_01I haven't seen Punisher yet. I'm gonna watch I'm gonna watch Punisher after I finish season three of Daredevil. The special thing? Yeah, I want to see that too. Yeah, yeah. Punisher good.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, yeah, it's really good. Um I did like Bullseye.
SPEAKER_08Bullseye was dope. Bullseye.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, bullseye. The one that can make anything into a um basically, yeah. Yeah, because I I saw a couple stuff about him and I was like, who's uh he can make anything into like a flying projectile and he can make anything into a flying projectile? Yeah, he can take he literally can take a water bottle and kill you with it.
SPEAKER_08Well, yeah, he's he's basically um Marvel's version of uh Dead Shot. Deadshot, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Dead Shot.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Deadshot is a person not to fuck with. Unless you're Superman. I mean, Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_08Especially when it's his daughter is involved.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. They uh they showed, sorry, I don't know if you y'all could hear a couple things I said. Uh they showed behind the scenes footage of um Bullseye's suit. It's kind of like, yeah, it's daredevil y, it's blue, it's sick. I like it a lot. He's actually uh he he's such a good character, in my opinion, because he's just like on his own, but dude, the projectile thing is so gas. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's I wish he I wish he would be like more of an anti-hero, but yeah. I feel like he is. I feel like he will be. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11But more more than like Frank Castle, because he's definitely more of a villain. Yes. Which I think Daredevil's gonna have to stop him from doing things to other villains, but like he gets it done, but he's like, you know, so bad about it. Yeah, I don't know, it's weird, but I'm interested to see who the next villain is in Born Again Season Three because the Kingpin stuff um I feel like will be coming to a close. Yeah, we need to put that shit to rest. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08I thought they was gonna set it up for him to be like the street level Thanos.
SPEAKER_11No, I think he was, though. I think we've seen it time and time again.
SPEAKER_09So now we know season three that they're gonna bring back certain characters, Luke, uh Luke Cage.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I was saying that we didn't even get to see the defenders versus him and stuff.
SPEAKER_11But you gotta be honest, you you mean sorry, you gotta remember Spider-Man Brand New Day is street level with Frank Castle with Punisher, so that's gonna probably explain what's happening.
SPEAKER_09Correct.
SPEAKER_11Yep.
SPEAKER_08W so brand new day.
SPEAKER_09Um, so moving on, we already talked about a little bit about Spider-Man New Aura. Um I gotta watch it. I need to I'm gonna watch that.
SPEAKER_01It's good. Watch it in black and white. Okay, don't be a stucker.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Planet of the Apes rebooting. What I don't I honestly Yeah, yeah, I don't think it's confirmed.
SPEAKER_11Is this full reboot or five?
SPEAKER_07Um I'm sick of it all. He comes back to the planet and he's like, what's going on with um what's his name?
SPEAKER_11Transformers Mark Wahlberg. Wait, wait, wait, I'm I'm confused. So wait, what is it, Vic?
SPEAKER_08Is it a reboot or is it like some well it's not it's not uh official, but they're saying that they're talking about rebooting the whole franchise again. What?
SPEAKER_11Graphics haven't gotten better. It's gonna what the f okay. Um, moving on. We'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_09I'm sorry, I just I can't I can't with that.
SPEAKER_08You really want to pull it up uh what the article I saw. Plan of the ape like like the 60s, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or like with the Mark Wahlberg one.
SPEAKER_08Oh, that one was the 2003 or 2004 one.
SPEAKER_09Okay, I don't want to I don't want to see Mark Wahlberg in another.
SPEAKER_01I I just don't the apes is you follow a human who goes who cra Oh yeah. The original story of Plan of the Apes is in the original movie, this guy goes and to this planet where everything on the planet or all the intelligent life forms on the planet are just smart apes, like smart monkeys sort monkeys, and he's learning from them and he's walking around, and the monkeys are showing him everything. Then at the very end of the movie, he's walking in the desert and he sees the Statue of Liberty hand sticking out, and that's when you realize that it's Earth millions of years later, and that's why these new Plant of the Apes movies have been prequels to that movie, and this last one that just came out, Plant of the Apes King Kingdom of the Plan of the Apes, the ending is because this is this last one takes place uh that like a couple hundred years after war.
unknownYeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So all the humans are now like enslaved, and it's like reverse. Now, humans are wild animals, except for this one human girl that's completely normal, and so then she teams up with these other apes that are like nice to her and being like, What's going on? Because they all speak English now. And at the very end of the movie, that girl goes to an underground bunker where you see a bunch of other humans living there contacting a space shuttle in the sky where humans like got into space shuttles and like took off because the disease was infecting the planet or whatever. But at the beginning of the movie, they're trying to come up with a or the first movie of Planet of the Apes, this dot this lab is trying to come up with antidotes for um the disease that makes you forget when you're older. Alzheimer's. And they make it and it works, and they or they test it out on chimpanzees and it works, but it makes the chimps smarter. Um, but a side effect of it is that it kills humans. It makes the chimps, or it created uh airborne. It makes the chimps smarter, but it kills humans, and the chimps, and basically it makes one chip super smart, and he realizes that chimps are being abused in all these places and zoos and things like that. So then he goes to get more of the stuff and releases it into the air. So now all the chimps start to get smart, but now people start dying, and then that's when the story starts happening, where there's a split between the chimps who are starting to create their own civilizations and humanity, which is slowly crumbling. And this is at the end of the new event.
SPEAKER_08Mario, you never see.
SPEAKER_01This is what I'm talking about, is at the end of the first one. Then in the second one, it's been like a couple years later, and chimpanzees have a society in the jungle, and humans have a society in the city, and they're still like a um, but they're like kind of like a battle going on because the humans need energy from the dam, but the chimps have built their city and stuff on the dam. So they have to work out a thing. And then what's newest one? The newest one? That's the space shuttle one.
unknownOh, right.
SPEAKER_01So that's what I'm saying is this next one I'm thinking will be a reboot of the 90s one where it's the guy coming back to the planet, and he's like, Whoa, what? That's what I feel like would be so sick.
SPEAKER_08Well, they shouldn't, they didn't even have to reboot it, they could have tied it in because, like you said, they was already.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they literally do not have to reboot it.
SPEAKER_08They couldn't have to be able to do it all they would have had to do was like, oh, we've been here this whole time. When you when Mark Wahlberg came back to Earth and the Earth was all apes at the end of that movie, all they would have, he could have, you know, they could have been like, Oh, yeah, we was here this whole time while you were over here and just tie it together, it would have been easy.
SPEAKER_11The question though, in the first movie of Planet of the Apes, besides the one guy who came from the spaceship going off this this bunker. You mean the reboot? No, the original. Based off this whole bunker thing, were there other humans that came from bunkers in the original, original Planet of the Apes? Were there any other humans besides him? Do you remember? Planet of the Apes. Okay, all right.
SPEAKER_08No, the original Planet of the Apes, there was the world was already taken over by apes.
SPEAKER_11So there was so there was no other humans hiding in bunkers, nothing like that? No, I think.
SPEAKER_08No, humans were slaves. Oh, in the first planet of the apes, they were slaves? In the first yeah, yeah, in the first planet of the apes, it was hu humans were like hunted and they were slaves. Okay, well, thank you. Oh, that's fucking crazy. Uh the virus thing, that's that wasn't a thing until the reboot. Well, wasn't it? There was no virus. That's that's just a story they made for the rebooting.
SPEAKER_11It's it's Horizon Zero chimpanzee.
SPEAKER_00Oh coming out?
SPEAKER_11Oh, cool. Maybe I should actually beat those games?
SPEAKER_00That would be cool. I think that would be fun.
SPEAKER_11Um, I have not seen X-Men 97, by the way, so enjoy the the talks, I guess. It's Salmos. Have you seen that? Alright, I'm passing the mic.
SPEAKER_08Mario, that's the best Disney series. It's the best Disney Plus series of all time. It's so good. It's like it's obviously. Animated easily.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna lie, Spider-Man was fun, Deadpool was fun. Were they good? No. Apologies.
SPEAKER_08They were good for a first watch. Yeah, I couldn't rewatch it.
SPEAKER_01Rewatching it, I was like, good.
SPEAKER_08It's because it was full of cameos. Anytime you got cameo movies, it's a lot of things.
SPEAKER_01That's what it is. But definitely X-Men 97, check it out.
SPEAKER_11I've said this before, but I'll say it again. It's just like um it's probably like this. I bought Spider-Man on Blu-ray, uh, No Way Home. And they kept in the the Blu-ray release, they kept the pauses in the edit in which they expect the audience to clap when they have a cameo. But there's no clapping in the home deep like the home Blu-ray. So when I sit there and like Matt Murdoch comes on screen and it's like, yeah, it's just like Matt Murdoch comes on screen and it's like So, anyways, I'm a good lawyer, and I'm like all they had to do was shorten it. I was like, what?
SPEAKER_01That's crazy. There's so many scenes in that movie, too. Like, specifically after Aunt Maid dies, spoilers, he Peter goes, and it's like a dramatic scene where he's like crying, or not crying, where it's like raining and he's standing in front of a giant screen in New York that's like playing Jane Joan Jameson or whatever. Which by the way, those TVs in New York don't have speakers, so I don't know why he's being able he's able to hear that. But anyway, it's go back, go back and re-watch that scene. It is literally an image of it's literally like a layered image of New York and Spider-Man that they just animated like on flash.
SPEAKER_11Oh so so Spider-Man is like is an image, it's a 2D image.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes. I was like, what? I re-watched that scene like three different times just to make sure that I'm not seeing what I think I'm seeing in this billion dollar movie.
SPEAKER_09Honestly, that's what that's what people have been like talking about. There have been so many videos that people have been making their own videos, not AI, but their own videos, like um, and just putting Marvel, and I'm not trying to, you know, fuck it. Putting Marvel to shame. You spend all of this money in the CGI and the it just it I'm like, y'all gotta come better. Dooms Liz Spider-Man brand new day. I am rooting for it. I just hope it delivers uh what it's supposed to deliver, but Doomsday, bitch, you Doomsday, man.
SPEAKER_08I I can't. They're putting all bits on Doomsday because they are putting it.
SPEAKER_09I mean, of course Spider-Man is gonna make Spider-Man is gonna do numbers, but I'm just saying, like I'm just honestly, I'm ready for Supergirl. I'm ready for Supergirl. I I feel like I feel like James Gunn and the last trailer that he did with Supergirl, I feel like it's gonna be really good. So yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_08Supergirls.
SPEAKER_09Well, we're not just I I'm I'm just giving Supergirl a chance because I feel like I read like the Supergirl comics, so I feel like there's a lot more of her story that we just don't get to see, you know. Yeah, for sure. It's gonna be interesting to see her.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna give it a chance.
SPEAKER_09But I'm going to see it regardless. I wanna I want to make sure that I'm definitely there to see it. I got a couple of other movies that I gotta go see, but yeah. Um shit. Last thing. X-Men. Which one? Season two, the animated season on Disney. Um, I think it's gonna be really good. I I mean, we are getting into the nitty gritty. When I tell you apocalypse, like, and the fact if you're not an X-Men like reader or X-Men just fanatic, then you will not understand. Like the 1990s were a pivotal point in the X-Men universe. Like, that is when they were at their weakest. Like, teams kept changing up, like there was no, there was foundation, but it wasn't a solid foundation. And I feel like with season two coming in, Apocalypse knows exactly where to hit them. And now the X-Men, the Brotherhood, McNedo, and everyone, like, they have to join together to like really just like fucking stop Apocalypse again.
SPEAKER_01Because I'm just not like my only experience with the X-Men is X-Men 97 and the movies. I sat when I got Disney Plus, one of the first things I did is sat down and I watched all the X-Men movies. Maybe I made a mistake, but I watched all the X-Men movies in chronological order. Okay. So I watched them from well, you know, chronological order, whatever. Yeah. But I don't know if I should have done that because it threw me off so much. Well, it was fun. I was like, what is going on? And it it and like the new movies were the old movies, and then the old movies were the new ones. Like I was just very confused, and nothing felt because they started at the end, right? In the X-Men movie series, it's all about time and they started at the end. Yeah, and because of that, there was no build up, it was build down.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, what do you mean they started at the end?
SPEAKER_01Started because it's based on time, the beginning of the X-Men storyline, quote unquote, starts at the end where the X where mutants are being persecuted and dying, and they're like, We need to go back in time and undo it all. No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_09That was the most. That was the second volume. That was that was the second. I know I understand what he's saying. That was the second volume of the X-Men movie. So you have X-Men, like, yeah. I'll shoot you the movies from the original truth. Yeah, the original X-Men movies. But I think you would love X-Men Samos. I think you would like, and I'm just saying this because I no, no, no. I'm just saying in general, like the teams. You got the Avengers and you got the fucking X-Men. I'm always team X-Men because I just feel like there's more character development in X-Men than any other. And I feel like their powers are just they're mutants. Like they are, you know, you got heavy fucking hitters in the X-Men universe. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Like they can go toe to toe. Like people are like, oh no, the Avengers. I'm like, no, fuck that. Where are the X-Men? You got Gene Grey, aka the Phoenix. You got Storm, fucking Eternal Storm. She can go, and people always think, I know I'm going into a rant. People always think that Storm is all about lightning and thunder. She can control lava. She can control anything that has to do with weather. Her power is weather manipulation. Okay? Stop playing. She's a omega level fucking mutant. Stop playing with Storm.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, in the comics or whatever, she's worshipped as a god because she kind of is. Like you can control the weather, and it's not a power that was given to you. You were born with it.
SPEAKER_08Another good X-Men show. What are we talking about? X-Men Evolution. Y'all should go watch that too. That's a that was a goaded uh X-Men.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, X-Men Evolution. Just type in X-Men Evolution somehow. That's on Disney Plus, too. X-Men Evolution, I guess. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um I don't know. There was there was just so many parts of X-Men though that I was like, that is so sick. That is so awesome. Like Magneto.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think that was one of my biggest issues. Also, I I know it's a plot. I know it's a movie plot, but you're telling me that you're gonna have one helmet that protects you from the most powerful mutant abilities ever, and you're gonna give it to one guy. I feel like if they're not gonna explain in the movie, oh, this helmet is impossible to make, it's super hard to do, or whatever, blah, blah, blah, that's why there's only one. But no, there was nothing like that. I just feel like why.
SPEAKER_09I'm gonna have to send you a whole thing, a whole thread of like the movies that you gotta watch.
SPEAKER_01We're not gonna rant about that.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, no, you're fine. But it it's just I I just feel like the X-Men season two is going to be phenomenal. I feel like they're introducing, they're not only introducing Polaris, which is Magneto's daughter, that can control magnetism as well. Um, but there are a lot of characters that are going to be showing back up to help the X-Men that are in different dimensions. So if you haven't seen the trailer, it's out now. X-Men uh 97 season two is out. Yeah. Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. They're gonna have I saw Deadpool is gonna make an appearance. Yeah, I love how that they did, they brought all the 90s Marvel shows kind of together. Like uh in season one, the finale you saw Spider-Man, you saw Captain America in one of the episodes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you see for any of this. What?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, they got they got last year. Fantastic four, yeah, Spider-Man, all the time.
SPEAKER_09Did y'all not see the last episode? Y'all gotta go watch it again.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I can't go watch it again.
SPEAKER_09I I will say there's a scene, there's a scene, and I'm and we'll we'll we'll move on after this, but there is a scene where Rogue literally she is going to find Captain America, and someone was like, Well, the Hulk can't even break that. Rogue literally smashes the shit out of the um uh I think the building or whatever, because it was meant to keep like the Hulk and everything out of that building. Rogue just like obliterates it. And she's talking to Captain America, and Captain America is like, well, you know, that's really not our fight. Because let me tell you something. Long story short, Avengers and X-Men do not get along. Like, they do not get along, their fights are different, and Avengers are always basically telling the mutants and you know, X-Men, like, that's not our fight, that's your fight, the Sentinels and all of them. And that's why the X-Men are the way they are, because they basically can't trust anybody but themselves. Now, if it's a world obliterating thing, yes, they'll all join forces, but yeah, the Avengers are kind of shitty to they are not kind of, they're shitty to the X-Men.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_08Well, it's sometimes it's it's kind of like it's a pushing, it's a giving, uh, you know, push and pull. Cause like X-Men sometimes gets look, they get look, they make look bad, you know? Yeah. Like uh Magneto when he pulled the the moon. Uh-huh. That shit was crazy. When he pulled the moon out of the fucking orbit, and then everybody's like, bro, you're gonna destroy the world. Like, what are you doing? Yeah. And so it's kind of like, yeah, they it's like they kind of tit for tat. It's like Civil War, uh Captain America Civil War, where it was like half of Avengers was on the government side, half was Captain America's side. It's kind of like that little dynamic between Avengers and X-Men. So it's gonna be interesting to see season two. It looks so good, bro. Yeah. Uh I hope they bring back um uh uh what's his name? Because they did him really good in the show. Gambit. No, I know Gambit's coming back. I'm talking about uh the bad guy.
SPEAKER_09Oh, um the the one that controls the machines.
SPEAKER_08No, not him. I did love him too. Uh he was great. Um I'm talking about the Gambit was coming back.
SPEAKER_01I thought he died.
SPEAKER_08Gambit did die, but uh Apapo brings him back as well. He brings him back to be one of his uh huntsmen.
SPEAKER_09Or horsemen or horsemen. Yeah. Samos just watch the first season, X-Men 97. You will love it. Oh, I did.
SPEAKER_01I did. I loved the first season.
SPEAKER_09Well, go back and watch the last episode.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go back and watch the whole season.
SPEAKER_09Low key. Okay, cool. But yeah, I'm I'm excited for it. Sebastian and uh Yeah, Sebastian was the Sebastian, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Mr. Sinister. I love Mr. Sinister.
SPEAKER_09Oh, Mr. Sinister is definitely gonna be back. Like Apocalypse is probably gonna give him some more powers and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, he's gonna work for Apocalypse, yeah.
SPEAKER_09Yep.
SPEAKER_08They need to do him in a movie.
SPEAKER_09I I know they say they're talking about him being the main bad guy in the if they if they don't if they don't introduce the new, I know the old X-Men are gonna be in Doomsday, but if they don't introduce the new X-Men at the end of Doomsday, it's gonna be a fucking problem. Like, they're gonna have to, like at end, at the end of the day, like, they're gonna have to do something. So I'm excited. I'm excited for X-Men season two, or X-Men 97 season two, and that's it, ladies and gentlemen. That's all I got for you.
SPEAKER_08Under three hours.
SPEAKER_09Under three.
